What does everyone feel about photoshop'd pics and airbrushing? It turns me off the minute I see these effects because I don't know what to believe and it takes away the sexiness. No matter how hot the gurl is it turns me off.

Thoughts.....opinions about this?

When I post a picture of a gal, I want them to look their best in it. If that means Photoshop (or in my case Lightroom) is involved, so be it. Personally I don't care; a couple of gals asked me to NOT photoshop their pics; they WANTED the natural look. I'm cool with that as well...

A little bit is alright if it's subtle.

It depends. Photo shoots get edited - that's how it works. Any pro photos you see in magazines or wherever have been edited or retouched. Hell, they even do that for senior class pictures. It's no different with porn. Editing is useful for removing blemishes or redeye, evening out blotchiness in skin tone, color correction, etc. If used skillfully, and in moderation it's a wonderful tool. The problem is when people overdo it. You end up with a model who looks like her face has been erased except for the lips and eyes. The lighting/shading on the skin no longer matches the lighting in the room. People begin to look plastic, and mannequin-like. That's when it puts me off. :2cent

^ This. Touch-ups, yes. Recreations, no. Overall, that is. In terms of solo model sites though, I think the best ones feature both styles. :geek:

:iagree: It is even more obvious when you have seen the same girl look natural without airbrushing, then you see her with lots of airbrushing in a different photoset. It really takes something away from her because it is no longer the real her. I can understand fixing a blemish or a recent scratch with a scab on it. But lots of airbrushing makes her look like a CGI creation instead of a real person.

:iagree: I might be one of the few here who will always prefer the natural look. Photoshopping and airbrushing to my mind takes the fantasy dimension of a pic to an unattainable level. Plus, the girl who's happy to appear natural is indicating a higher level of self-esteem and self-confidence, and it also means that you would feel equally confident in approaching them if you met.

It's one of the many things that I really admire about Bella. And I think that Debra's avatar pic is a classic example of what I mean.

There is obviously a craft to good photography; when the lighting and angles have been well considered, and the shot is framed properly (or interestingly). Photoshop is just a tool for convenience. It can be over done, but unless you're creating some sort of digital art, then it shouldn't really be noticeable when used correctly.

If you're a hooker and you look like shit but are photoshopped to be like Heidi Klum, then that will inevitably lead to a few disgruntled punters.

On the whole photoshop isn't some evil thing though. It just depends how it's used. I don't see much difference between some of your slightly out-of-focus pics and using photoshop to smooth out some tones... :/

I think someone has had a few too many drinks this Friday night lol.

I got the gist of what you're saying - you keep it real in your pics, so the punters are never unsatisfied and come back for more... yeah?

The photos have to get photoshopped. They look and just plan crappy if they're not. You just don't like it if it's over-photoshopped.

No they don't. I really like pics of girls in casual clothes or on the street in normal daylight. They tell you more about the real girl both physically and also give a better insight into their personality than any number of posed and shopped studio shots.

I'm not trying to be mean or negative, I am actually interested in your reasoning behind distinguishing between styling in a picture (like focus, or favourable lighting etc) as opposed to photoshop techniques that achieve much the same thing.

Almost like post and pre production techniques... ?

People who complain about Photoshop aren't really making the distinction between its use in the hands of a professional and photos that suffer from too much tinkering. It's a very rare picture that doesn't require any manipulation in post production. Even the "natural" look so many folks seem to dig have at least been color corrected to make up for 2800K tungsten lighting used in all household light sockets, otherwise the models look like they suffer from jaundice. Or worse yet, fluorescent lighting which shifts everything to a sickly green tint. Also, when models who just start out and don't know that using a camera's built in flash is verboten for modeling... well, Photoshop becomes your strongest ally.

I think this thread is more about over-airbrushing than color correction. I doubt anybody cares about that, although some of the members here can correct me if I'm wrong. :geek:

Ok, my turn, i hear so much bullshit about photoshop its unreal.

I make my living from photography, women come to my studio to have
portrait/boudoir/art nude photographs taken of themselves. This may
be simply a bit of an ego trip for them, some saucy pics for their
boyfriends/hubbies or for their modelling portfolios.

It is my job to make those women look the way they want to. Be that
with lighting, make up, clothes or props and lastly in the editing. They
dont want to see wrinkles, warts, celulite, they want to see great
images of the woman they can be.

Trust me, when you're in close with a D3x you can see every pore they
have on their faces, and it aint pretty. So i dont really give a toss, i use
it, i enjoy using it and i make a shit load of money using it.

I will agree that if you're an escort and try to decieve someone into
thinking you're a Pixie Lott lookalike and not the 20 stone behemoth
you really are then that is wrong.

Photoshop is simply a tool, used along with everything else to create
some beautiful images, which i'll be doing this afternoon..

That's why I wrote my first sentence using exactly the words I chose. Went and covered that base up front.
