Never really liked pot all that much, more of an alcohol and nicotine kind of guy. The few times I ever tried smoking pot, I was so drunk on beer that I didn't notice any effect from it. Had to give up the alcohol once the cancer got me, too much chance of problems with the other drugs I was taking, gitting old ain't for the young.:geek:

We have the real stuff in New Orleans, so it must be legal again. It's cool to try but it taste exactly like a drink called "pastis," an anise/licorise-flavored liqueur that is bottled by Pernod-Ricard. You can find it in any liquor store.

When looking to buy a real bottle of absinthe, you have to find one that has grand wormwood & green anise in it and typically has a higher level of alcohol (between 50-75%)

The process of it going into the glass is the highlight of the experience. You would have to drink loads of that herb-flavored shit to get as shit-canned as Van Gogh, Hemingway, Manet, Degas and others.

Stick to whisky, I say...

It is very obvious that weed is more of a 'gateway' drug. Alcohol may be more dangerous, but it just isn't a gateway drug by proper definitions...

I would disagree with both. LSD and mushrooms are true gateway drugs. If you eat enough of them they open up a gateway to another dimension.

From what I researched we are getting the same stuff that they had back in the day. Allegedly the hallucinatory effect was due to the green dye they added back in the day. Who knows for sure. The controversy is the amount of Thujone percentage. I think the Thujone in the US version may be lower than non US versions.

I tried Lucid Absinthe. It is a clear buzz that's a little different from regular alcohol, but it's still alcohol. You should check it out sometime. It's definitely worth a try.
