My guy friends try to encourage me to watch sports, I don't care what anyone says. Hello! shopping is a sport and I should be professional! and so is dancing with the stars... Whats up with you guys and sports anyway?

Football is the only sport I really like anymore. But, in the Fall, I don't leave the house much except to retrieve supplies.

for the same reason we watch porn: to see people do things we only dream we could.
So many things exist so we can live vicariously through them - sports, porn, reality tv, movies, etc.

I agree with you, though; shopping is a sport and I'm sure you are a "most valuable player"

Become a stylist, then you'll get paid to shop, lol. That's a dreamy career....

That's because there's no cum shot, lol!!!

But seriously, it's the thrill of competition. An individual or team vs another battling for position, trying to best the other whether it's tennis, cycling, football, etc.
It's a challenge of dominance, to be the Alpha-male (or female) for a moment. It's as close to war we get without killing each other.

There is also an artistry associated with the skill, such as gymnastics which can be very pretty to look at.

I'm trying to find a good analogy.....

If there's something you strongly believe in, a philosophy or an idea, and that concept is embodied in a person or represented in a color or a symbol.
A person wants to see what he believes in to win or to be the best in whatever arena that may be.

Painters, musicians, actors, politicians, students, animals compete. Sometimes it's televised, sometimes it goes unrecorded.
Did I make any sense?

Thanks for the kiss. I actually thought I did a decent job.

There was really nothing there you could relate to? Maybe I'm too involved...

That's really sweet you stay and cook for the boys. I love a woman who can cook. You're Filipino, right? What do you like to cook? I'm kind of a foodie, too.

Yeah, I have more cook books than anything else, too. Most of my friends cook, as well. When I lived in NYC, we use to have Iron Chef: Home Edition every couple of months. Instead of trying to cook everything within a time limit, we would select an ingredient early in the week and everyone would bring their dishes that weekend. We were lucky; two other friends lived on the same floor so we had 3 kitchens to cook, and party....

Haha ha ha!!! I like your spirit!! I don't want to brag or anything, but we do some pretty amazing high-cuisine shit. I've been known to buy plates & glassware just for my food presentation.
We don't just roll up tacos & shit, lol!!!
See, you like to compete; you like to best somebody with your skills. Imagine cooking as a sport, next time you're in the kitchen; you just gotta get your boys to watch & cheer for you, lol!!

Now I live in New Orleans, I've missed one competition. It was a potato challenge (boring...) People said that it was too much potato. I agree....

I was supposed to fly up last month and I told la familia that we were going to have a lemon competition. Now that it's autumn season, we have to think of another ingredient...

You got me curious about your skills, tho. Don't get me wrong, I ain't skerd, just curious.
I've got a clear mushroom soup that'll make your toes curl. It's all about the broth....

Cooking is one of my passions. Not trying to compete with my good friend Prospero here (oh yeah? ) but I also specialise in Indian and Asian food and take pride in never ever reaching for the jar marked curry powder - I make up all my own spice mixes. Oh, and another very important factor - I clear up as I go along, can't abide working in an untidy kitchen.

Sounds like you need to come to the UK so Prospero and I can do a cook off, then you can decide.

Oh, and back to the original subject of the thread. Yes, there is a constituency here in the UK that slavishly follows sport too, although our sport is much more interesting than the US obsessions (joking!), but you'll also find a few courteous types that would always give their undivided attention to their lady.

And watch it later on record.....

One company I once worked for - in London - used to send a tea trolley around mid morning. Every day there were half a dozen bread rolls with black pudding on them. Every day the trolley left with none of the rolls with black pudding sold. But every day they kept on sendng the black pudding out.

Clearly not enough northerners on the payroll. :dancing:

Mind you, when I was gigging in the north west a few weeks ago, my full English in one of the B&Bs came with two slices of what passed for black pudding. To be honest, I wasn't sure whether to eat it or to play icehockey with it....

I've tried blutwurst in Germany and boudin noir in France, as well as various recommended black puds in the north of England, but the Scots version is always the best for me. It's spicier, with plenty of pepper and a tang of cloves as well, not dissimilar to the spicing in haggis.

And in order to keep the stereotype alive, in Scotland they produce tube-shaped haggis, black pudding and white pudding (oatmeal and suet) specially for the chip-shop trade. That's right, we take tubes of cholesterol stuffed offal and then compound the felony by deep-frying the wee morsels.

Yummy! :)
