Yes, we've got the usual X Factor/Strictly Come Dancing/Britain's Got Talent shite swamping peak time Saturday viewing as usual, but there's plenty of high quality stuff elsewhere - the final (boo hoo) series of the excellent Spooks, what I think you call MI5 in the US, the second series of the wonderful Danish police thriller, The Killing, Mark Cousins' mesmerising The Story of Cinema: An Odyssey, which I've spoken about on the Classical Music etc thread, plus all the cultural gems on BBC4.

I haven't mentioned the new series of Downton Abbey, because it's not for me, but if you like top quality costume drama, it's certainly up there with the greats.

Oh, and by the way, I have the standard terrestrial channels plus Freeview, which provides another 50 or so digital channels at no cost, so I only pay my annual licence fee.
