SO Ill be in NYC 23-28th and I went to book my normal hotel and it was double its usual rate so I went on hotel websites and everything for that week is double...I mean the Laquinta is in the 300 range LOL....So then I went to priceline and Ive bid up too 240 and still cant get a room...........Is there something going on?

Anyhow any suggestions for me?

I am hosting parties in the City and of course working so if I cant find something in the city where would be the next area to try? Something easy for clients to get too, good area, and not too expensive to take a cab to for the parties?

Suggestions?

Long Island City (an area in queens) is close to the Midtown Tunnel, and The QueensBoro Bridge.. Only about a $15 (and 15 min) cab ride into Midtown.

It's where I stay while I'm here.

Also, this may sound a little crazy, but LOTS of the NYC Clients won't mind traveling into North Jersey because they know nonne of the girls can afford to work out of NYC anymore.

I'm currently working in NJ because of the hotel rates too. I'd say 70% of my calls come in from NYC. It's a 15-20 min. ride for them, so they don't mind.

Good luck love.

Shit Kayden....if you're right, and as I look...it seems you are....then Wendy might very well be advised to hang out across the river. The frozen zones, security checks and grid lock wiill make it impossible for sexy laidies, or thier clients to get around ! Keep us posted Wendy....might take a train ride !

Oh, that's true. They're going to shut Midtown down again.

It's because of the Memorial being open now. Rates are through the roof for the next few months. I'll be there in November, and even with a vastly discounted rate It's still in the high 200's range for any place even close to Manhattan.

Price-wise Manhattan is completely out of control. There's a pizzeria downtown that advertises a lunch special: 2 regular slices and a soda, $8.00.
That's a special.

Even hotels on the extreme west side by 11th ave are no longer affordable. It's close to the point where people of normal means will simply stop coming here. Other than folks who commute into New York for their jobs, the only people who live in Manhattan are the super wealthy.
And besides the convenience of the subway, it really aint that great

i refuse to say which hotel i work at, but i know during the week alot of rooms at this hotel arent always being rented out and the housekeepers have been complaining about the lack of tips.

i don't really consider it a place to relax since it's a job to me. i take my job seriously so i wouldnt jeopardize it like that. even so, it wont get me fired and most ppl wouldnt believe it anyway but still....i just know i wont stay at hotels now that i know what really goes on in the rooms after the guests leave. lol

Thats kinna how I feel about eating at restaurants in the mall considering I used to work in one when I was a teenager. Fun days, shitty pay

That's where I'll be . Normal club rate is 249, they have their smallest room for 290ish now. The lower Manhattan location is running about 40 dollars cheaper than the WTC location though.

You could always try Jersey City too, there is a Westin, and a nice Doubletree. Quick walk to Path station.

yeah if peeps only knew, it's like they dont change the blankets in rooms except for maybe once every 6 months or when it's badly soiled. and they dont clean glasses, they jus run them under hot water and wipe them...it's nasty....i wouldn't stay at no damn hotel. them chicks have to clean so many rooms so u know they cuttin corners to get them done.

Is the Carter hotel a high price hotel nowadays?

Anyway, as someone said, there are some cheaper hotels in Queens, some along Queens Blvd,, Pan American(?) hotel, I think is the name. There are some smaller ones I stayed at, someone got killed in one of them but I would think they are a lot safer today.

DT Chicago hotels seem kinda pricey too, though not on the NYC scale. Tried to book a room on a weekend this summer. 3 weeks out I saw a couple of options in the Loop for around $100-$120 a night. I checked back a week later and the cheapest of the cheapies was $150. I ended up sharing a room with 2 beds at the Hilton Palmer House with a friend and don't get me started about the service. High prices and bad service. Great combo.

Read an article in the paper a while back how more and more French people are coming to N.Y...(I don't know if this is true at your hotel)...problem is that the French are notoriously bad tippers (when they tip at all ).

i think most people don't know to tip a housekeeper or maybe they don't care.

I don't know...I learned pretty early on in life that you always leave tip money in the room for the housekeeping when you check out of a hotel.
