Ever physically met a celebrity or stood within a foots distance from a celebrity?

We know Allanah has met Madonna but has anyone else? What other celebrities have you met before that you can openly discuss Allanah

Me personally have only met a few in person and only graced by the presence of a few others...

Delores, lead singer for the Cranberries, she was kinda rude.
Jesse Borrego, dancer in FAME and was artist in Blood in Blood Out
Shaquille O'Neal
Ceaser Chavez, His wife looked like a TS, Im serious...Boxer
Jimmy Smitz, most famous for NYPD, I think...
Cheech Marin
DJ Keoki and I didnt just watch him spin but I didnt mess w/ him either...
Sonny Melendrez, He did a Disney show back in 80's called YOU AND ME KID, lol... anyone know that show?
I also saw Norman, the first gay Real World character, first season.
and I also saw Frankie J shooting a video on Hollywood Blvd 2 months ago

Celebrity dragqueens, Jackie Beat, Candis Cayne, Jimmy James, Lady Bunny

TS website feature, Tonya from Tonyaworld.com, Danielle Foxxx before she took porn by storm. Holly Sweet from transxtc.com

Not too many A-list celebrities but what the heck, Im not bragging. Just curious who's seen who.

p.s. Concerts dont count unless u were backstage.

Iv met Alicia Keys.... she walked into a store in Covent Garden, London.... she came in with 2 HUGE minders and was looking for stuff in a shop owned by a friend.... the store sells personalised clothing and footwear....

i struck up a conversation with one of the minders about a T-Shirt in the store.... it was a free Palestine T-Shirt... while chatting to him i turn around and Alicia Keys is agrreing with me saying the siatuation in the Midlle East will lead to the death of a generation of Palestinians.... unless the UN steps in and the US backs down....

well that was one of the coolest celebs i ever met.... we chatted for 5 minutes and she acted like an average woman no ego, no nothing..... BTW she is even more gorgeous in real life....

apart from her iv seen Mike Myers and Andre from Outkast....

Hmm...Is there a limit? I may have to disqualify myself. :?

A fellow in Buffalo once said that I was a man who'd 'lived his life'.

And I'm not done yet.

Hint: At least two of them are on stamps. 8)

I've been introduced to a few through family (my father was a director who did commercials) and friends. The most recent one was Tony Bennett, to whom I was introduced a couple of years ago. In each instance, I couldn't have been less interested and sat through it all as a courtesy. IMO, most - though certainly not all - celebrities are pompous, self-important scumbags that really have little offer.

Can you tell that I am having a bad day

I met Marlon Wayans a long time ago

other than that, that's about it. I'm not really into meeting celebs though. I mean if I do, it's all good but I definitely don't lose sleep over it if I don't

I shook hands with Bill Clinton after he was president. He had just moved to Westchester and he was attending a charity function at a Jewish Community Center where my sister works. I was helping her out that night collecting the admission tickets. I gotta admit it was pretty neat looking him in the eyes, face to face. Can't remember if I asked him to show me his invitation. there was one beffy looking guy with him with lots of walkie-talkie stuff in his ear, but that was it.

I've met quite a few musicians, writers, artists, spritual leaders. A few have made a real impression and I got to spend some real time with some of them. Foremost among musicians is 60s flower power icon Donovan who I've met several times; others include Tom Rapp, Gordon Bok, Robin Williamson, Mike Heron, and other folk and folk/rock players (who you've probably never heard of, lol). Writers include Isaac Asimov, Jerzey Kozinski, Stan Rice, Robert Bly, and a wide number of poets I doubt anyone has heard of.

Most interesting are the spiritual leaders in different traditions I've met: the Dali Lama (twice), Thich Nhat Hahn, Fools Crow, Muktananda and Gurumayi (both more times than I can count). I did shake Bill Clinton's hand once, fwiw (not much).

No doubt Elvis was and is somewhere in the great expanse of infinity, but he did not make his presence known to me, whereas Jesus Christ did.

Tip o' the hat to you there, E. I know a couple of people who've met him and they say he's most pleasant to chat with. I love that half-smile he has in most of his photographs. That "I know something you don't" kind of enlightened look. :)

That's an apt description, BeardedOne (your nick doesn't lend itself to abbreviation, does it?). I first met him in 1977 when I was working for the American Institute of Buddhist Studies in Amherst, MA, under the direction of the first ordained Tibetan Buddhist monk in America, Robert Thurman (father of Uma, who if you're into name dropping I met then as a little girl of about 7 -- no concept of where she'd be in about 12 years). The second time I didn't really "meet" him as the crowd was huge--1000s--though he did walk right past me within arm's length.

Spock's mom, ehh? :)

Ah, Uuuuuuumaaa. *Sigh* :)

On abreviations, I realize there's an obvious one there that I hadn't considered. How about BrdO?

On Spock's mom: There was a little (And I mean =tiny=) Star Trek gathering in Boston in the early '80's that usually averaged a total membership of under a hundred or so. It was so small that they multi-tasked some of the function space, rousting vendors at the end of the first day to make room for the banquet, etc. All in all though, it was well-run and enjoyed by many.

What's a Trek thing without a Trek guest, though? With the films coming out, the first series in perppetual rerun, and new series' in the works, the key guests like Spock, Kirk, McCoy, etc. were tied to the accepted norm of a major $$$ honorarium plus expen$e$. The last I checked, a decade or more ago, the base rate was $5k for a single guest and they were held to a strict schedule (A couple of years ago, Patrick 'Jean Luc Picard' Stewart broke from ties to Sony for X-Men and Paramount for Trek to make a brief appearance on behalf of both studios in San Jose. At precisely the fifty-nine minute mark, handlers scurried him off as though he were the target of an assassination, rushing him to the airport and back to the studio hands). Needless to say, a tiny event with a budget in the low hundreds of dollars was unlikely to score a big name.

Then, one year, one of the committee members pointed out that Leonard Nimoy, the ever-popular Spock, had been born and raised in Dorchester and that his mother still lived there. Calls were made and Dora Nimoy (NIMOY in large-type bold on the fliers) came to the show, via subway, with a couple of her friends. She was a delightful guest, treated like a queen, and had a most wonderful time amongst her son's fans.

The only odd point of the weekend was when she went to see the art show. Among the anime, fantasy, and SF drawings, paintings, and sculptures, was a wall of panels of beautifully rendered pencil sketches by an artist calling herself Southern Star. So detailed, they resembled black and white photographs in their clarity. There were also a couple that I'm sure Leonard Nimoy would have been mortified to see, let alone have his mother view. One that comes to mind had Spock giving Kirk the ol' wazoo.  *Nudge* Saynamore.

The committee smartly left the art show to the last on Mrs. Nimoy's tour. Timing it just so that when she was about to turn into the last aisle, featuring the highly pornographic images of her son, someone in the hall yelled "Where's Mrs. Nimoy? We're late for the banquet!" and they hustled her out of the room, none the wiser.

Heh. :)

I bumped into Chris Claremont (Writer for Marvel Comics) on Seventh Avenue one weekend and, messing with his head, shouted "Oh, my gawd! It's Chris Claremont!" and he yelled "Where?!? There he is!" and ran off down the street, a number of comics fans hurrying to and past him, in search of himself.

Fame is funny.

BrdO, great story about Dora NIMOY! I wonder if they're still using Leonard's intro to the Omni Theatre at the Museum of Science?

Love the Christ Claremont bit! Quick thinking on his part. I've met quite a few comics creators, but many years ago (back in the early 70s) before his time. Let's see: Berni Wrightson, Kenneth Smith (was a guest in his house once), Gil Kane, Jeff Jones, others but I can't remember offhand!

I know that they were still using Richard Pini's voice in some of their planetarium shows after he became famous as author/editor/publisher. I'll have to chide him about that if I go to LA at the end of the summer (Where a number of SF and Fantasy authors will be gathering for their "Oscar" weekend).

I met Wrightson and Jones back in 1980 or '81. Also Perez (very nice) and Byrne (Edgy, rude, but more than likely caused by a thousand fanboys pressing him in a single day - This was at the height of the Byrne/Austin X-Men phenomenon). Later met and chatted with cover artists like Boris Valejo, Rowena Morril, Michael Whelan, and Don Maitz. Most people probably know Maitz for his defining the image of Captain Morgan for the rum company.

Fame is relative, of course, and though I have no famous relatives ( ) I've found that you can =appear= famous with the right props. A couple of years back I got to 'Hugo sit' for someone at the SF event in San Jose. To those who aren't familiar with it, the 'Hugo' (The Science Fiction Acheivement awards named for Hugo Gernsbach, the first to coin the phrase 'scientifiction') is to science fiction and fantasy auhtors, artists, editors, etc. what the Oscars are to the film industry. I was holding up the bar at the Fairmont when someone came up, plopped a Hugo down in front of me, and asked me to look after it while they ran an errand. I honestly don't recall whose it was, but I have a faint memory that it was accepted on behalf of the ediotr of the Chesley Bonstill art book.

I'd heard that a Hugo, a very phallic silver rocketship, was a babe magnet, but I had no idea how effective it could be. No sooner had it appeared on the bar when women began to circle and swoop in. "Hi, is this seat taken?" "Is that your Hugo?" "Niiiice rocket!". When the owner returned he practicaly had to hit me over the head with it to get me to give it up. Hmm...A friend of mine has a couple of them, mayhaps he'd rent one out. :D
