You guys call what we call jam, jelly, that is a fruit preserve made with fruit, sugar and pectin. Jelly in the UK is what you call jello.

My mum used to make the other kind of jelly by straining fruit and sugar through a muslin, which produced a clear spread that tasted like jam but didn't contain any fruit.

Anyone ever ask you if you prefer jelly or syrup? I'd tell you to watch out for the "Toss Salad Man" but worry you might fake an injury so he could grab you.
