I am looking (again) for a used car to get me from point a to point b and something I really don't mind parking a few blocks away from Sunny's parties (anyone thats been towed knows what I mean)

open to suggestions, I need something decent on gas, preferably a manual, and non diesel

thanks

Try a Jeep Cherokee XJ. They are kind of old now because they don't make them anymore and they are not that good on gas. But the up side is that they are great for driving and parking in the city. You can see over most cars, they have a tighter turning radius that even a little car like a honda civic, they never break down, they are easy to find and cheap. I have one and I always use it when I go to San Francisco. I even have a nice little ram bar... opps I mean tow bar on the back of mine in case some asshole thinks parking two inches behind my bumper is a good thing to do. I have over 250k on mine and it still runs great.

LOL, thats a nice car, but I don't think he will want to part that in the city and have it towed. Hell, he will have to rent a private garage in the area to park that thing.

A used Honda Accord in black (maybe the sports coupe)...it'll be great on gas...cheap enough where you don't care about it so much...but in sporty black, still decent looking enough so you can drive someone around in it.

.
Well built and dependable too.

Great clutches and gearboxes too (you said standard, right?). Good for city driving.

Subarus will last forever, too but they feel cheap. Even the high end models. BUT they come in all wheel drive. Still snow in winter there?

I'm seriously thinking about a Subie, they do feel cheap cosmetically but those fuckin boxer engines are like my bug engine, treat em right and they go on & on & on........... yeah it still snows here, my only gripe with Subarus is those fuckers REALLY hold their value. I mean an '07 WRX is fucking $15k, here in NYC you can get a loaded altima '08-'09 for that price coming off of a lease, same goes for a camry............ and let's not even discuss an A4 Quattro...... dirt cheap at $15k because everyone is terrified of repair bills

Why not diesel? I'd get a diesel GTI.

I'm with tslvrnyc.

Diesel is the way to ride (post 2006 diesel pre-heaters keep the motor nice and quiet) my trucks and vans are diesel fired they only need oil and filters changed out to hum. Plus a tank of diesel has more energy gallon for gallon than gasoline. I average just under 500 miles per 30 gallon tank of diesel in a Sierra 3500, or Ford E350 or F450.
