many times :) this is taken from another forum but I think it's fairly accurate. really depends on how much you drink and how many LB's you wanna see. I would advise staying mostly sober.


Naturally there is no maximum amount of money you can spend in a single day. Get a 5-star hotel, ridiculously overpay the ladyboys, give absurd tips and ring the bell liberally in bars and you can easily spend upwards of 20.000 baht in a day. But how much do you really need to have fun?

Hotel (600 baht per day):

basic accomodation (simple air-con room) is available from 500 baht, e.g. The Irish Rover 500-650 baht
average hotels will cost between 800-1500 baht (PBR has standard rooms for 1000 baht a night and 7 nights for the price of 6 during low season)
luxury hotels will cost a lot more, obviously


Transport (100 baht per day):

get the bell bus from Bangkok, it's good and cheap (200 baht), other options range from 800-1300, never pay more; if you take a taxi, ask the driver if tolls etc. are covered
actually, most of the places in Patts are in walking distance of each other but if you don't feel like walking 20-30 minutes from Famous to Soi 6 then hop on a baht bus for 10 baht
there's no real reason to take a real cab, baht buses are fine
motorbike taxis are sometimes good if you want to get your barfine to the hotel fast; their prices range from 40-80 baht


Food (400 baht per day):

breakfast is often included in your hotel; you can, however, get a decent breakfast for around 100 baht
lunch, dinner, snacks: street vendors offer good and affordable food - it's usually between 10 baht (slice of melon) to 40 baht (spider on a stick) - just kidding
Thai food in restaurant is available from 50 - 150 baht including steamed rice (it's excellent food as well)


Drinks (1000 baht for me, might vary depending on your drinking habits):

beers (I prefer Chang) cost between 50 baht (happy hours, beer bars) and 100 baht (expensive gogo)
ladydrinks range from 100 baht (Happy Hour at Stringfellows!) to 200 baht (very expensive WS gogo)
don't buy every goodlooking ladyboy a drink! stick to the ones you really like and/or plan to barfine


Short Time (1000 baht):

many bars tend to have fixed prices now (e.g. Famous 700 baht or Pooks 1300 baht); my tip is to go to Famous and tip the gorgeous ladies there 200-300 baht after the deed (they deserve every single baht)
do NOT pay more than 1500 everything included (often it's a barfine, a short time room, the lady's fee and a tip); many would consider 1500 too much as it is


Long Time (1500 baht):

your best bet is to wait until the bar closes and then offer her to to her to your hotel; this will save you the barfine (which can be up to 600 baht)
I made some typical newbie mistakes and paid 2000 LT and 500 barfine, then I added a tip of 200 baht - 2700 is really expensive for a LT


Other expenses (?)

there are tourist attractions you might want to see, e.g. Noong Nooch Tropical Gardens, Elephant Village, Sanctuary of Truth, Alcazar, Tiffany's - tours typically cost between 600 and 1000 baht
gifts: the typical tourist stuff is available everywhere - you can also get a "NICE SUIT" from Indian tailors (how I hated them!)
toilet usage: 5 baht!
cinema tickets are cheap - if you want to take your lady there (they often love a break from the bar routine) then expect around 80 baht per ticket
tips: 20 baht for waitresses, room service, tour guides, etc. / whatever you feel like for your ladyboys



Final Sum: 4600 baht per day which equals about 100 Euros, 90 Pounds Sterling, 150 US Dollars + Other Expenses


GO FOR IT 1982!!! - you will not be sorry - however, be aware that Thailand will ruin the U.S scene for you - there is nothing on earth that compares at least IMHO

I have only been to one and that's GoodHandy's here in Toronto.
The guys do outnumber the girls 4-1 but the ladies do their best to greet everyone that comes to the club. It's definitely not a regular night club scene and most guys there are just looking to score with the ladies and the ladies know that. There's been a few nights were I was lucky enough to chat up some of the ladies and got to know a few of them.
My advice is just to be nice and genuine. These ladies are swarmed by horny men all night, if you want to separate yourselves from the pack then don't be like the others.
Best you will come out of it is with a friendship with one of these ladies.
