Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Women, and Gays have been featured many times nationally as big shots in major companies. Those categories have become mainstream and household terms. They are not taboo like they used to be. But it is very rare when a TG makes the national headlines as a new big shot in a major national company. Of course they exist in many fields. You know it and I know it. But TG's in top jobs usually doesn't make national headlines. Not near as many people know about it. Those who DO hear about the TG world usually see the shemale and escorts websites.

Janet Mock got a very positive mention on MSNBC. I have seen documentaries about TG's showing them hooking on corners at night, making porn, and how the transition is done. But I have never seen any TG get mentioned on network news for getting a high profile job with a big national company, and portrayed as being the normal intelligent person that she is. That's fantastic. I hope it is a sign of new thinking and acceptance. It's about fucking time we see TG's openly in a positive light.

My best wishes for Janet Mock in her new position as editor of People Magazine. I am sure she will be a fine example of how we are ALL equal and can be anything we want if we have the desire. When Freddie started this thread, I though he worded the title wrongly, but I understood what he meant. And it was not to insult anyone here. His post was about a black TG that made it big in a national position. And he said he was proud of her. So am I. Everyone here should be.

Every time TG's are portrayed on TV, it is usually a documentary about the adult side of the TG world. Of course there is nothing wrong with that part of it at all. Nobody said there was. ENDA is Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Another bill that will never see the light of day because the issue is already covered by the US Constitution and federal statutes that prohibit discrimination. Passing ENDA would be redundant and congress will not waste time on it. It's the same reason the Womens Equal Rights amendment never passed.

You edited your post so I will add to my comments. For the last time, the discrimination bill in each state is not necessary. There is already a federal bill that covers it and supercedes state laws.

If you or any minority are discriminated against, get a lawyer and fight it. They are breaking the law. Because it was boring and I was miserable doing the work. Why spend the rest of my life doing something I hate when I had the opportunity to change that? I'd rather make less money working in a Lab and enjoy what I do than sit behind a computer running queries and making reports all day every day. I am proud that I was able to start at the bottom as a part time cashier and work my way up to being an Analyst for the company. But the job itself sucked. I was there for 5 years and I was over it.

I see that a number of women have spoken out about porn being a valid career. I have to grant you that, as long is it is a choice, or put another way trans women have viable options besides porn. And what I see as great irony, I have heard of trans women, attacking other trans women, for not being good looking enough, thus blaming them for their discrimination. Yet from the original post, I read links to the story of the 'successful' woman, and noticed that a good percentage, were negative comments (1/2?). There was no mention of sexwork, she is a writer. Yet there were negative comment on an article that was all positive. I thought that she was very attractive myself. And I did note, the many positive comments also.

So, while we have differences here, keep in mind that we have more in common than differences. Keep in mind that elements out there are saying, that trans people, and others want "special priviledges", instead of the truth. Let us respect each other here, as we would like for the greater society to respect us. Because that is the lesson we must teach the world; that is, how to respect those that are different.
