I'm only 29 and does anyone else feel this way?

I never can think what I want to eat and when I do it's never totally satisfying lol

I wonder what it will be like when I'm 80?

I know I'm 29 so that makes me 89 in tranny years - so I guess when I'm 80 I'll be 2832748934982 in tranny years lol

Loooooool where did you get those numbers?

I love food!!! But cooking a nice tasty meal each day can be a bit complicated...especially when you want it to be healthy too...

Pork Chops and Fennel, braised in Cider and Chicken Stock for me tonight, finished with Brandy and Cream served with buttery mash and peas.
Top stuff.
If that doesn't tickle your taste buds, then I give up.

Like I said, they're quite delicious. I only eat three at a time and I'm perfectly healthy and strong as a bull.

Try learning to cook Thai food. It's actually really easy. It's different. And delicious.

I cook Thai, Indian, Vietnamese and Malaysian food all the time. As long as you have a judicious hand with the chilli, the spices will enhance and bring out the flavours of the food. I never use sauce from a jar or the old standby curry powder either - putting your own spice and herb mixes together, using fresh wherever possible, is one of the pleasures of cooking. And because you're using mostly fresh ingredients and cooking quickly and for a short time, the flavours and textures stay clear and delicious as well as being healthier too.

Still bored, Kelly? Hmm? :geek:

Yep I'm loving the stuff. It's a 3rd world country over here so one needs to be careful of what he eats. But overall it's great.

Durian stinks badly. The 1000 year old egg is nasty (pic below). I tried some other stuff that almost made me puke too but I forget the name.

Good topic Kelly. I love chatting about food.

I was presented with a dish of century eggs at a banquet in China - one of those gigs where any refusal causes loss of face and great embarrassment to your host and where in this case a £7M deal was at stake.

They look like mussel shells, by the way, and these were served in a savoury egg custard. Yum yum.

Anyway, I was halfway through my second egg when my chinese malaysian colleague leaned over and whispered that we were especially honoured, because these eggs were not the 20 or so year old factory produced stuff pickled in vinegar that you usually get, but authentic ones done in the traditional way and certified at 135 years old - pickled in horse urine and buried in a stone jar. He said this while I still had one of the fucking things in my mouth.

I managed to get through the meal, drank a lot of mao tai but nothing could get rid of the taste. So when I finally got back to my room I went through almost all of a 250ml bottle of listerine.

And we got the contract.

Blecchhhh!:puke I'd have to drink a lot of mao tais before I even considered eating one of the regular ones, let alone the horse piss ones!

I tried Durian. Mine wasn't that bad. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Eat some Wax Worm Taco's or deep fried buttermilk battered scorpion.

This is Korean street food, beondegi, deep-fried silkworm larvae.

And they taste every bit as bad as that sounds. I was quite hungry for some dog stew after that.

I wsa dished up some rum stuff in China though I can't match Robert louis story. Avoided the insects and dog offered in an outdoor market - communications by sign language. But had to work harder to avoid the head of the Beijing Duck (complete with beak) which my hosts insisted was a special honour. We argued back and forth about who should honour whom until finally they ate it.

Other memorable Chinese food moment. A restaurant where the food was still alive and in cages and tanks when you chose what you wanted. The frogs hopping around a case were not in the frame but the fish we chose tried to escape - flip flopping onto the floor before the waiter scooped it up and vanished into the kitchen with it.

I have heard there is a restaurant in Belgium which specialises in dishes made of rats. I've not tried it.

Hardest work in preparing food is making Japanese. First a visit to the supermarket to get ingredients which may or may not come in packets labelled in English. Fresh fish - hard to get the right cuts for Sashimi and then lots and lots of fine dicing etc. Hard to make for a dinner party cos you are totally in the kitchen.
