In the 8 years under George W. Bush the Republican Party jacked up $10 trillion worth of debt rather than the projected $2 trillion surplus. They did this SPECIFICALLY and PURPOSEFULLY by the ever more deregulation of banks and Wall street, getting us into two unfunded wars, and a gigantic unfunded medicare drug benefit for the elderly.
They caused it, they are responsible for it, they are guilty... But as long as they wear flag pins on their lapels and Christianity on their sleeves they get a free ride here in the United States of Duh.
Bill is being a bit too optimistic in failing to realize the limits of our intelligently designed American electorate.
