Anyone swap their bong out for one of these? I love my glass bong but when I take a hit I sit in a cloud of smoke and wonder how much THC is escaping out the window and not getting into my lungs where I want it.

Who uses a Vaporizer to smoke now? I see a wide range of prices from $49 to $600. I'd be willing to pay around $200 if I could get a nice one that would last and work well.

Good question Dino. I've heard good and bad (mostly good) things about these, but have yet to try one. I too usually use a glass bong. I think I'd be willing to pay around $100-$150 if I thought it was really worth it. Those of you out there, please inform us.

Before the Vaporizer, a bong was considered the best way to smoke pot as far as waste. You also definitely get blasted off a bong more than a pipe or joint. I would love to stretch out a bag of weed while getting an even better high if that is possible.

I haven't but what I've heard about them they sound great. The $200 is an investment that might pay off over time getting a better high and actually saving money from not having to go to the weed store so often. My poor neighbors will miss the contact high they get from the smoke that flies out of my window and into their's.

I'm serious about getting one of these things. When I do, I will definitely leave some feedback to benefit the other potheads around here. I know there's plenty of them. I'm going to send out a few PMs to get some additional info. The goal is to get the best vaporizer for the best value.

I'm very sentimental about my bong and like smoking out too. I like the fire and smoke and don't even mind the coughing. If this Vaporizer is a better way I might put the bong aside and keep it as a back-up.

No you wont get that same feeling but you will be very high and I should also mention that after you are high its a lot more work to load up the vaporizer than it is to load a bong

Found 3 Head Shops that were open today. Saw a number of Vaporizers but nothing really appealed to me. I did have a good conversation with this one guy. He said he prefers the bong even though he's used a $600 Volcano Machine numerous times. I think he likes the ritual of smoking out and the experience with the Vaporizer isn't as satisfying even though that contraption harvests more THC.

I use the volcano which is the cadillac of the vaporizers http://www.storz-bickel.com/vaporizer/volcano-vaporization-system.html I use the analog version with a solid valve which sells for $539 new. Using about a 1/2 gram I get 3 bags full of vape smoke and that will get 3-4 people really high for couple of hours. It definitely stretches the weed out and I believe the high is better. It most definitely is cleaner and easier on the lungs and there is no waste at all. The down side of the weed is you loose the flavor to a certain degree. I smoke pretty much every day 3-4x and have seen this thing put down some of the most experienced smokers so be careful. An additional bonus as well is you get to save your vaporized product the brown stuff and use it to make butter, an oz of brown with a pound of butter and your set to bake and you will get high again trust me.

I have several friends whom make home made versions of the volcano. You can purchase a glass beaker similar to this http://www.medixcorp.com/catalog/detail.asp?Item_id=528 and than attach another glass piece to the top of the beaker with a screen than all you need is a makita heat gun http://www.amazon.com/Makita-HG1100-100-Degree-Heat/dp/B00004YOKV and than use surgical grade tubing and attach to a turkey bag and you\'ll be set. You\'ll need to adapt the glass beaker to allow for the surgical tubing to capture the vaporized smoke to enter from the beaker to the tubing. You can get this all done for your budget of $200 and it will work better than most vaporizers out there. What you pay for with the volcano is german engineering its valve system is outstanding although the basic premise of the alternative system I recommended above is the same just no valves. I know the $500 price tag scares people away but it does help save lungs, conserve the product and gets you higher. I would estimate I use about 33-50% less weed with the vaporizer so it pays for me in 2 months. You mention bongs consider the volcano similar to a Roor or a Jerome Baker piece as opposed to buying a plastic tube.

I live in a small apt. so I wanted something that created less smell and was better on my lungs...so I started using the iolite. I like it...though it's a different head than smoking rolled joints. The iolite is good for one person...maybe two at most.

I have a vaporizer and I love it. My vaporizer is my main tool for getting high.

And the highs are intense and lasts a few hours, depending on the quality of weed. One of many things I love about it is that its easier on my lungs. Another thing is no ash.

Plus my weed stash last longer and the 'duff'(used up weed) can be used in brownies and cakes.

I would recommend one, its an investment but well worth it. I have a Vapor Brothers vapor box. I bought it for 180+tax.

BTW heating up the element takes about 5 minutes to get it to the correct temperature to create the vapor. Minor annoyance for a great high.

With easy valve each time you change a bag you have to rely on the company to change the bag. The valve system cost $119 and includes 5 bags depending on use you'll prolly change the bag every 6-12 weeks so factor that additional expense 1-1.5x a year. With the solid valve I go to supermarket and purchase a 2 pack of reynolds turkey bags for $2.49. Or you can buy a 10 foot roll for about $10.

Have any of you guys messed with any of the concentrates ?
honey oil, butter ? essentially its just real strong hash oil made with butane extracts. This stuff is real big on the west coast and colorado but I occasionally get it. I like it a lot but it is harsh on the lungs but 1-2 pin hits over a coal and thats all you need.

I fill the chamber half way up and am able to get 3 bags out of it. After first bag I jiggle the filling chamber around to mix it up a bit, than after the second bag I use a smaller finer grinder for a re-grind and get a 3rd bag. Than as stated before you get to save the brown for making butter. = Winning

That could be a bit risky brother...but fuck it, worth a shot! You might have to wait till the afterparty b4 breaking that bad boy out, but it would be a "hit" for sure!

Fuck what other people think about spending too much, it will actually keep you from having to buy as much weed in the long run and you will actually save money!

It seems you already laid down the bucks for a volcano. Awesome pic. Those dudes are the best of the best. The bag models don't waste as much vapor as the whip-tube models. Good choice, but I've never been a huge fan of vaporizers because it's almost too fierce a high.

I'm a night time guy who likes his Indica. I like the fact that I start dosing off at 2AM. Before I was smoking, I'd stay up until 5AM watching crap TV. I actually take 2 quick bong hits before hitting the hay. The quality of sleep is one of my favorite effects of marijuana.

Ditto, actually. I find weed helps me sleep quite a bit, but there's a difference between two bong rips at the end of the night and killing a nug or two in a vapo in the middle of the afternoon and not being able to peel my ass out the couch. On that note, it's time for a bong rip. :)

I agree too. I never got into smoking or drinking when the sun's out with the exception of major party holidays like St Patrick's Day, Cinco De Mayo, 4th of July, and a few others. If I'd smoke some serious Indica at 2 or 3PM I'd be worthless for the rest of the day.

Last night was my second night with the Volcano Vaporizer. The first night was me just figuring the thing out and making a few trial uses. Last night was the real test. Grinded up some fresh Skywalker OG and put a small amount in. I got about 4 good bags out of a tiny bit. I smoked two bags then I smoked two bags taking a break between sessions. I repeated this process several times losing count of how many bags I smoked. I was really fucked up. I used only the Vaporizer and put the bong away for the night.

This was a real success. I give this product a thumbs up. It does what it says. You get the fierce high that GrimFusion mentioned and also conserve a lot of product really stretching those bags out. My plan is to use both the Vaporizer and the bong. Have a packed bong always ready to go then make a few trips to the vaporizer. I will do that tonight.

I just bought the PAX Hand held Vaporizer by Ploom, a little pricey at $230+tax but worth it. I can go for a walk, keep it in my hand and if even a cop seen it would think it was a MP3 or something like that.

Never used a Vaporizer and it is different. The first few time I felt like I was missing something and kept hitting it thinking I wasn't getting anything from it. Then BAM, stoned as fuck, that stupid stoned where you forget what you were doing. But the high reminded me of when I was young, got the giggles and smiles.

Well took my Pax to the bar, it does have a small odor the disappears quickly, not a Marijuana smell but a roasting something smell, a small MJ smell when exhaled but if you don't know what it is most likely you will not notice. A guy was smoking a clove cigarette or similar and that masked everything.

So if you want a small portable Vaporizer this is the one for you. Doesn't burn oils or wax, there are different models for that.

Gotta thank you for this. I wanted to replace my iolite with something different (I'm on my third one), when I saw this post. I liked how it looked here, so I did the internet research and liked what I read. It's a little pricey in comparison to some other small vaporizers, but so far I love it.
Gonna give a few as Christmas presents this year.
