i have only ever meet a few in my life that I know of. I think these days they keep that crazy shit quiet. The few I have met were pretty well off but I guess that's a requirement when you have to pay for salvation

Ha! ha! I do think it's "weird" shit -- ha! ha! That's why I was asking. Just curious. (Scientology is somewhat cultish, too.)
I mean, I'm an atheist. I think religious belief is extremely irrational. But I've no problem with people drawing comfort from it. As long as they don't try to impose it on me.
I mean, religion is indeed a form of comfort. And, too, discipline -- :)

You probably agree with Alan Moore. By anarchy he, of course, means libertarianism: that everyone should be the master of their own destiny.

Anarchy and/or Amebix, a UK crust punk band from the late Seventies into the Eighties. there was a strong anarchist influence in lots of the crust punk bands at the time. "No Gods, No Masters" was a song from their 7" EP Who's the Enemy.

always fasciantes me that anarchy can imply political disorder or lawlessness yet can also refer to libertarianism or direct democracy.... I think that is what Switzerlands political system is based on?? Umm the direct democracy i mean ;-)

An anarchist society, and this may seem counter-intuitive, actually means a very orderly society.
It means that all people would participate. In their communities, workplaces etc. etc. in governing that society. That's anarcho syndacalism.
Would it work? Hmmm... good question.

Correct Sammi, or as the Swiss would say, Richtig! I'm still trying to cope with the concept of a Swiss anarchist! They're so conventional that even the Germans make jokes about them.

Now, as a good scouse girl, I hope that you'll agree that when it comes to gods, surely there's only one.

It's not too much of a stretch, after all, their cheese has holes in it and their army knives have toothpicks! Maybe they need a good anarchist government to clear that up!:)

As Jim Morrison once sang "Cancel my subscription to the resurrection."

Are you storing up credits for the afterlife like the indulgences that the catholic church was selling and which prompted Luther to begin the process that ended with the reformation? Or is it also a bit like freemasonry where members help each other whenever they can?

I'm curious, would really like to know how these aspects work. Thanks in anticipation.

A scientologist will never give an unbeliever a straight answer. You're either in or you aren't. Most scientologists don't know enough about their religion to tell you much anyway because until a member reaches OT3, scientology isn't really a religion; it's more like a self-help group. They reel new members by doing them favors that benefit financially or emotionally. The rest is all psychological breakdown and buildup which is a little hypocritical coming from a religion that teaches that psychology is evil.

Low-ranking members are told that thetans are "bad energies" or negative emotions and thoughts; not that thetans are the souls of aliens atom-bombed on the top of five volcanoes. In other words, they don't know any better.

Scientology would never have been considered a religion if their members hadn't infiltrated our government and confiscated evidence. They even have pull in Hollywood. Celebrities aren't introduced to the same scientology the relion's poorer members have. They're allowed to move through the ranks without being told the psychotic backstory of dianetics. They're also career-counseled and waited on nearly hand-and-foot by the church.

That said, I think most scientologists get a bad wrap. Everybody likes kind and helpful people. It's not that crazy to over-value something you've paid an insane amount of money for, especially if the church continually implies a payoff. Sure, Lord Xenu, e-meters, and thetans are fucking insane, but that's not the message most scientologists hear.

The religion and the leadership of the scientologist church are two entirely different entities. The leadership within the church are corrupt, greedy, and legally viscous. I don't understand how anybody could accept or believe in a book written by a science fiction writer who was known to be a habitual liar. I mean, Hubbard even claimed he was a nuclear physicist. He never has been, but that was his claim.
