They already have, it was called Bosom Buddies.:):dancing: Just kidding! I think your right, a comedy would go a long ways towards achieving acceptance for TSs.

They could do a remake of Little Britain like they did The Office.

I dont see it happening tbh, if it backfires its just one big flop where people are laughing at us instead of accepting it

Theres a dutch tv show, where a guy can find a girlfriend through that program, and its like "is he your type? yes/no" "do you like his lifestyle? yes/no" "Do you like blondes or brunettes or?" and it goes on till 1 girl is left from about 30 attending women, which he will be on a date with.

Now and then a few TS's come on the program and on a dutch forum where they talk about anything random with babes and what not. So that show has been talked about quite alot on there and they just laugh, discriminate and say how nasty TS's are.

Why would they laugh at tgirls if they did it properly with a well written script and good actresses that are funny and sexy

If you look at a scripted show, like Will and Grace, or even a reality show, like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, they really got the gay lifestyle front and center in mainstream society. I think a show centered around TSs could do the same if it is quality. Although, the true question might be, do TSs and TS lovers really want the scene to be mainstream. That was kind of a controversy about the shows that I mentioned above, that they were taking away the scene from the people who live in it, and sort of homogenizing it. I'm pretty ambivalent about it, I think the scene will retain its character even if it went mainstream. However, I do think that mainstreaming it would lead to greater acceptance, which is a plus for everyone.

That's true, and a real shame. If you've ever noticed, every time a TGurl or CD is seen in movies or TV shows, they are always portrayed as a joke, or for shock effect. They are never shown as normal serious charactors. But that is how our society thinks. Too bad. A TGurl star of a series could bring about a lot of interesting stories both funny and serious.

At one time Gay men and lesbians were taboo in movies and TV, but they are mostly accepted these days on the screen. But a tranny or CD is still considered over the line to many prudes. But that could change too with time. I hope so.

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that sex sells, but most of the top sitcoms of all time featured average looking people. The root of comedy is relateability and the mainstream populace can't really relate to the impossibly beautiful (see: The Big Bang Theory). In fact, a scripted TS show that exploited sex appeal would probably reinforce the idea that all TS's care about is sex, which obviously would not bode well for our efforts to convince people that we're no different than they are.

... unless the show was on Logo or something, and then all bets (and clothes) are off.

Indeed, i think about 6 months ago i saw a movie on tv about some guys in vegas partying with stripper party bus, only there were no GG's on it, but a manman with a wig, 250lbs and a creepy voice.. :)

Though I would consider Hazel Tucker cute and beautiful, I think she would really fit into the girl next door mold. Plus, from what I've seen and heard of her, she just seems like a genuine person, and has a natural quality to her. Just introducing a TS character on a show would go a long ways.

Not yet but soon. 10 years perhaps?

So many teens and 20 somethings are coming out these days, transgender women will hit a critical mass over the decade and will not be ignorable.

Basically I think gender dysphoria is more common than we realize and transexuals will become a larger presence. The visibility of transwomen is like 100 times greater than it was 20 years ago. The number of young people who are willing to come out or a just willing to explore their feelings is much larger than just 10 years ago. The number of men who are "into" transwomen is growing fast too.

A show like Bosom Buddies or Tootsie would not work at all today. Not simply because of political correctness, but because middle America is not THAT dumb anymore.

:iagree: I agree with everything you said, however, I do think that Tootsie is a good film.:)

I didn't say I watch it. I hate GLBT television. The other day I watched a Buffy marathon on Logo and if I saw one more Drag Race promo, I probably would have thrown up all over my bed. I was doing cam and felt the need to apologize for subjecting my viewers to it.

Not sure how many of the gals are properly trained actresses so a sit-com is out of the question. I normally hate reality shows but I would never miss an episode of The Real World: TS Porn Valley. The show would have to be exploitive and controversial. I'd take a bunch of the girls from the LA area and put them up in a big house and make Bella as boss bitch of the place.

Has there ever been a TS on the Real World? I can't think of one off the top of my head. By the way, shouldn't they change the name of the show to the People Who Screw Anything That Moves Show? I mean everytime I watch that show the housemates are either arguing with each other or someone outside of the house, or doing each other or someone outside of the house. It's like a aggravating orgy.:) Remember when the housemates dealed with real issues? Or when they had, I don't know, REAL people? Now everyone seems to be the same. Nobody like Puck anymore.:(

I guess this is a great formula!

I've never seen The Real World. I just knew the concept of the show. A show full of T-Girls I would watch.

You're not missing out on much. I would watch a T-Girls show as well. I'm gonna use the well worn argument that MTV needs to go back to playing music videos instead of faux-sentimental syrupy bullshit with a bunch of spoiled morons like Sweet Sixteen, or mindlessly depressing moralizing crap like Teen Mom. I mean Headbangers Ball is on at like 2:00 A.M. They want it to fail! MTV has become completely irrelevant, it's the television equivalent of People Magazine for tweens.

Yeah, I basically only watch MTV now with groups of people so we can make fun of how stupid it is. I just watched an old clip from MTV in the 1980s where they interviewed Dave Mustaine. Good luck getting that now. I doubt they'd even do a 5 second spot on him if he died.

Astrid Shay would do great in a situation comedy. She has some quick wits about her!
