My work for the Army & the only thing I can say is to assist them on training scenarios to make them realistic so if they make a mistake here, it can be corrected......without the training my company provides, they can make mistakes in Iraq or Afghanistan than can get them killed or an entire unit.....the troops we train have a higher success rate coming back home alive versus without the training we provide....I take pride knowing what I do is important & getting the "thank you" from out troops is the best gift I can receive from them in return for all the hard work.....I cannot say more about the job as it is classified....all the reasons given, denial to who I am, are all the reasons I transitioned 30 months ago tomorrow.....the years just went by so fast after so many people relied on me & I sacrificed to help others before I addressed my own needs to transition much earlier in my life....I am going to be 46 years old in 2 months & blessed to have the full support of my family & friends.....unfortunately, I lost some too, but cannot dwell on it since that hinders my goal to get my transition completed within 2 more years....take care & appreciate the reply, take care.... :)

Well, here goes, I'm a male in my early 50's. I am married to a gg and have 2 kids. High school teacher and coach... member of the Patriot Guard Riders... supporter of military veterans and current military personnel. I post every so often. I came on here a number of years back looking for info on violence against against transexuals/transgendered. I had read a horrible story about a young M-F transexual named Gwen Araujo who was brutally murdered. I was saddened and sickened by the entire crime. Hence, the background of the paper I wrote for a M.Ed. class I was taking in human sexuality. Since I discovered transexuals, I have been here off and on ever since trying to educate not only myself but others...I have had a number of LGBTQ students over the years. They always have, and do have, my support. I want then to feel safe in my classroom. I admire the bravery, courage and determination of the women here and those who do not post here. Our society needs to be more accepting...I know, a lot easier said than done. A few days back I posted the Christine Aguilera song "Beautiful" that was for all of you. I also wrote "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Don't ever give anyone that opportunity. I will always be an advocate.

It's human nature...I'm guilty of it too sometimes, we get tunnel vision...but as I combat vet, I went to see a friend of mine's 20 year old son today in Bethesda. I thought I could say some magic words to him. He'd been in the Marines for a matter of months, and in Afghanastan for 3 weeks and returned last week minus both legs and one arm. I left humbled and searching for answers. Sorry for bringing a shot of reality into everyone's life....but we need to remember what's really important and how it can all change in an instant.

I have a similar story to Liberty: been dressing since 12-13 but due to social norms or whatever decided to fit the role. I had girlfriends, did the school thing, got married ect. One day in 2003 or 2004 I came across a pic of Madison (Anna Alexandre-RIP) and was blown away with what I saw and what I felt....I wasn't so abnormal, there were others like me. So I started dressing again and then basically went through years of back and forth about transitioning. Last year I finally started being honest with myself and then with my loved ones, and started hormones in August and plan to go full-time this year. So yeah...thats a bit about me. I left HA before because of the fighting & just like to all of us get along..I don't have the time for the drama, so I cut myself out of the picture until recently when I decided to give it a second chance....it's still the same, but learned not to be involved before as well as now....
I am soooo sorry to hear of your friend's son :( & I am proud he served our country failthfully & bravely....he is the ultimate hero in my eyes....he put his life on the line & it's a shame he does not have the limbs anymore :( I cried when I read it & I grew up a military brat, so I understand the military life 100%....my dad served our country from 1940-1972 & was highly decorated for his Army service....I posted photos of his combat medals on my facebook page....
