I don’t care how fucking ruthless you are, those acts will eventually become an albatross around your neck, the weight of which only grows with each passing year. You can face and accept it, run and hide from it, try your hand at penance, medicate it, or seek professional counseling; the weight never goes away. All you can do is attempt to avoid feeding the part of yourself that will add to it. If you think that type of violent lifestyle is cool or something to emulate, then I already know that you’ve never lived it to any meaningful extent.

I reserve judgement. I have never seen anyone who considered themselves a thug in real life. Sometimes when I'm hanging out with my friends we say "Hey? You wanna thug it for a while?" and its a loose street term, we don't consider ourselves thugs at all. Like I said I've never seen a thug in my life, I live very close to the murder capital of the world Oakland, and its little brothers San Fran and Richmond. In all my time wandering the streets I've never seen a thug. I've seen people gashed to ribbons, I've experienced multiple drive-by shootings, I've been attacked and fought offensively and defensively, I've been cut, I've been beaten and kicked. Never once did I stop and think, "I'm getting assaulted by thugz." The only reason there is for anyone who isn't african-amercian to be walking those streets is to buy junk or crack. Thugs don't live there, gangsters maybe, but it makes no difference when you're running for your life or trying to defend yourself, adrenaline blazing. If someone calls themselves a thug, a gangster or an OG it means they're cool with you and they're joking around. Bullets don't talk and don't leave you enough time to ask your assailant for credencials. Until you've seen someone lying in a pool of their own blood you haven't experienced violence.
