people on this site are quick to call me ignorant for choices i have made in my personal life but to me its amazing just how ignorant some people are.i didnt really want to get into this but since people keep using me as an example and making assumptions about me,my race and my family history im going to take the time to set a few things straight.

its also ignorant to assume that whatever caucasian heritage i do have is the by product of a willing copulation between one of my ancestors and a white man.both my mother and father are the descendants of slaves.i would assume most people know this but it was very common practice in america for male slave owners to rape their female slaves.

this kinda reminds me...one time i was wit 2 of my boys and they had a friend that was a white boy who had a car...well we was drivin thru brooklyn at like 2am lookin to buy some bogeys ...and the cops pulled us over and they went hard on the white boy sayin he was buyin drugs and askin him why he was in this area and if we was really his friends and searched the car for drugs....the cops were treatin him worse than us because he was white in the hood...and those cops were white too...they told him to never come to the area again because his car is in the system....smh...

The only common way for these people to communicate was via learning the slave masters language - that took time. Eventually after some number of years the 'American Negro' culture took shape but its identify was of shared trauma. This was unlike the Italians, the Poles, the Irish, the Chinese as each of those peoples had a long history of a cohesive, tangible culture back in their home countries. Please note that the majority of slaves came from west and south Africa which did not have the same cultural unity as the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans, etc.

You cannot compare the travails of other peoples that have come to North America to that of the Africans.

So all of this isn't to excuse ignorance or cultural differences, it's merely to point out that the challenge to integrate into the predominantly white influenced former slave-owning society that is North America is much harder for black people. It will happen eventually - we'll all sooner or later follow the same social and cultural traits regardless of where we live. Well, Slavery actually was abolished around 1865 and Jim Crow took it's place until the late 1960's. Blacks really didn't get a fair shot in the American game until 1970, so that's 40 years people! That's not very long. Sure, but they have a cultural sense of self, even those with White friends. There was a study done that followed Asian families. One family was close knit and taught their children their language, culture and customs and one didn't and let the kids assimilate completely. The families that didn't teach their culture, language and customs to their children, performed WAY worse in school and some of the kids got caught up in drugs, crime and other several destructive behavior, unlike the kids who had a strong sense of cultural identity. Why do African immigrants outperform almost all other groups educationally, when American born Blacks are at the bottom of spectrum? One family was close knit and taught their children their language, culture and customs and one didn't and let the kids assimilate completely. The families that didn't teach their culture, language and customs to their children, performed WAY worse in school and some of the kids got caught up in drugs, crime and other several destructive behavior, unlike the kids who had a strong sense of cultural identity. Why do African immigrants outperform almost all other groups educationally, when American born Blacks are at the bottom of spectrum? Blacks, as evidence by this thread, are lumped into "situations" and feel responsible as a "group" I am black, well dominican as well, and when reading a story on crime or general "ghettoness" hope to GOD that the person isn't black.
