We are watching the germ of another Asian war in its nascent stages. IMO this will not end well at all.
Kim Jong Il's son is trying to show SOuth Korea he ain't no punk, but this is the 2ND unprovoked attack by North Korea in less than 12 months.

Maybe the U.S. military can lower the temperature over there, but the next missile launched at South Korea from the North will be WAR, with the USA dead in the middle of it.

Kim Jong-il is a psycho but I´m not sure who provoked this incident. To imply it was North Korea just because they got a crazy dictator in charge is not enough to satisfy my conclusions. South Korea (one of the most important US puppet states in Asia) has never shown willingness to end this conflict either. Let´s recall that they never officially ended the war. They´re only in a stage of ceasefire. Since 1953.

No they wouldn't, absolutely not but without outside forces it would be a very long and drawn out war. The fact that Seoul is so close to the border is the main worry.

The only people who would want this war (and a unified Korea), are the North Korean people as they're the only ones who would benefit from the democracy and 21st Century living that the South Koreans, Japanese and Chinese surrounding them have.
The Americans don't want it, as this is the perfect excuse to keep a large military in the regions.
The Chinese and Russians don't want it as they enjoy the buffer zone between them and the South (Americans).
The South Koreans don't want it as they simply couldn't afford it, millions of people spilling into their country without anything (see Germany re-unification and it's much worse than that).
The Kim's don't want it - as they lose all power they have.

This and the sinking of the S.Korean boat is posturing to pave the way for Kim Jong Il's son to take over. Similar things happened when he took power from his father.

Frankly, I'd love to see Kim Jong Il and his dynasty go out with a bang - but don't put it on all the N.Korean people.

You're dumber now than you were yesterday. The North Koreans know little about the outside world. Um, North Koreans know they live in a shit-hole. Just can't talk about it.
When you periodically don't have food to eat, folks know that ain't paradise.

That's like arguing Russians who lived during the Soviet regime didn't know they were living under a totalitarian dictatorship. Absolute control of state media isn't 'absolute'.

If we go full-bore into this meat grinder, I want BHO to re-instate the draft.
People always talk a lot of junk about the pressing need for military intervention, but have never served or had anyone close to them die in combat.

The casualties from a ground war with North Korea with be potentially in the high thousands. This isn't some rhetorical ideological game about which POTUS is the biggest 'cowboy'.
The chicken hawks need to personally bleed this time.

BTW, South Korea's defense minister just stepped down. Not a good sign.

This just my opinion:

I don't think obama will fight. We are commited, by treaties, to come to South Korea's defence. So, he will probably send a division (or less) over there for about six months. Then he'll give some speach about how we tried to live up to our commitment, then pull the troops out.

The UK's Independent is reporting that thousands of North Korean workers and their security escorts have suddenly picked up and are leaving the country and heading back home. This isn't good. Russia pays NK directly for the worker's labor and for them to just pick up and leave is serious b/c of the revenue that they derive for such an impoverished nation. I haven't seen any of the MSM sources reporting on this and it's datelined today. NK's usual posturing and sending signals is one thing, this development is something to take note of.

I've noticed a pattern from you. A glance at your posts (and I don't go into the Politics area for just that reason) shows that you are terrified and mis-informed of anything outside of the USA. Aren't you the guy who thinks all Muslims are "animals" (http://www.hungangels.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=51636) and that "the Koran is evil" (http://www.hungangels.com/vboard/showthread.php?p=831105#post831105).

You are the worst of what the USA has created. Scared, bigotted, pliable and poorly educated. Thankfully, you are the minority.

What I said, shares more insight on the situation there and why it's never been resolved than your "insight" claiming the people think they live in paradise.
Retarded? Hilarious that you can't see outside the borders of your own country (state?) without hate and ire.
