I've thought about this from time to time, when listening to Lou Reed's lyrics in college while snorting by brains out with you heathen white folk!!lol

He sings A LOT about transvestites, ( Sister Ray, Walk on The Wild Side, etc.,) and I've often wondered, if I came of age in the late '60s, early '70s, if I would have had that attraction for an androgynous/transgendered feminine look??

I really think not. Even TG girls nowadays who aren't absolutely 100% passable, are so much more feminine than TV/CDs from the 1970s. For myself, that burning lust just wouldn't be there.

A typical dude with a close shave and make-up doesn't get it going for me.

Take a random sample of any 5-10 girls on HA who regularly post, then pull out some photos of transvestites from the Stonewall era.
It really is like Close Encounters of the Third(sex) Kind.

Transgendered women today are really on such a higher level collectively than anything previously that it's not really a fair comparison.

What's even more interesting is that eventually society may be at a place where medical science and social acceptance have created a trans-positive environment. Already society is discussing the treatment of transgendered children with largely positive attitudes. In time, those of us who transitioned later will be gone, most people will consider gender a choice and transition earlier, and almost every trans person will become passable to the point where the word itself becomes obsolete. I give it 25-30 years.
