Anyone use MacBook 17in.? and if so how long does your battery last, I'm only getting approx. 2.5-3hrs on a new battery. Just curious if this was normal or any opinions

vary's on what you use it for, 17in is a killer to the battery, the 15in and 13in have a good 8hr but id say 5 hours after watching a movie and listening to itunes.

Pull up your system profiler and look under the "Power" Tab

It should give you a breakdown of your battery life.

I have a 17 in MacBook Pro but I almost never run it on battery power for more than 20-30 minutes. When I do, though, I can tell from the power gauge that I probably won't get more than a couple of hours total. HOWEVER, I occasionally let the computer run on the battery overnight so that it completely discharges. This is recommended so that the computer can reset it's sensors to be more accurate, and it actually helps prolong the life of the battery.

Applecare is a must if you DON'T do what seamonkey does, I took mine to the Apple Store and the battery was switched out without me even asking after 3 years of usage, wasn't in bad shape but they felt the need for the change.....

p.s. enjoy one of the greatest laptops ever made..........

Can't quite help, I hackintoshed a desktop, and am thinking of
doing the same to a Netbook.

Though now that you mention it I may hackintosh a laptop that
I have lying around, though I was more inclined to "penquinfy" it.

Thanks guys for your suggestions, My computer tech, advised that running wireless and maybe flash programs tends to shorten battery life, idk, I've had it about a year and usually kept it plugged in because old battery was in even worse shape.
