She sued to play in the US Open in the 70's and won-making it a landmark case for transsexual rights. She also coached Martina Navartilova on her Wimbeldon wins... here she is with Martina.

Her name was Lili Elbe, she was from Denmark. She had her surgeries in Dresden Germany in 1930, and died shortly afterwards, presumably from rejection of transplanted ovaries. Dr's don't attempt do such things today, luckily.:hide-1:
