Great article but the second story about monkey prostitutes was classic!

Allie mentions one friend whose fee is $500 an hour. “She thinks she’s nothing like the girls on the street giving blow jobs for $100, and I’m like, ‘Yes, honey, you’re the same damn thing’.”

Oh, that's rich: the GG version of the 'shemale' argument. 'Who cares what they call me?'

I'm sorry, but there's totally a difference. An escort sells an experience that involves sex. A hooker or whore sells sex. Period. This was a really a dumb thing for her to say. I'm sorry, but she can speak for herself alone if she's going to compare Benzes to Hondas.

Plus, you're not going to get $500 out of a man that would call you a 'whore.' Believe that. Anybody paying that much is going to treat you like a lady.

If shit goes wrong, absolutely a high roller will call a girl a 'whore', or worse.

The more a man pays, the more he thinks for that hour he OWNS your ass.

Escort. Hooker. Exotic dancer. Stripper. Splitting pretty thin hairs, IMO.

Actually, yeah, I thought about that too. But with good screening it's pretty easy to weed those guys out. Still, I should have been more specific.

I'm not so sure, Bella.

I get your point, that a high end service provider is way different than a low end one, but that's true in many professions and there normally aren't different names for those.

Like, whether you're making shit money selling used cars, or you're making millions selling B2B finance software, you're still "in sales". I guess you could make a distinction by saying "used car salesman" versus "financial services salesman" and let people figure it out in context.

In sales you have the same sort of thing going on -- used car guys are going to be cheap and greasy and come on to you with high pressure tactics and generally act like an asshole until you buy a car or run away. The high end guy is totally different. It's like you're his best friend. You go out to dinners, you may even go on vacations with the guy, he calls you, talks to you, you like him.

At the end of it all both of those dudes make a sale, and that's their job. They are also both salesmen.

So, yeah, "escorts" and "hookers" are different in the quality of service, but it's not really fundamentally or categorically different, it's just a matter of degree. If you used the same nomenclature as the sales guys then one would be a "street hooker" and the other would be a "hot hooker" or "sophisticated hooker" maybe, since that's the differentiator between the two.

The idea of using totally separate words seems defensive to me, like escorts know damn well they are glorified hookers, but it would hurt their egos to admit it.

But I don't know, I'm just putting an argument out, and I certainly don't judge anyone for their choice of profession. Hell, if I could stomach fucking a bunch of guys, I might be a hooker too 8)

But using that analogy, it's pretty easy for a person to say 'I'm a Lambo salesman,' or 'I'm a Chevy salesman.' There's always going to be qualifiers to job titles and descriptions that set them apart from the others. I think this is just an extension of that.

I mean, if an escort is an escort, or a whore is a whore, and you were a straight man who was uninterested in transsexuals, and a TS came to your door, wouldn't you say, 'hey, you should have told me you were a TS escort?' Without that qualifier, you don't necessarily know what you're getting, do you? ;)

Yeah, but personally, I'll even accept 'glorified-hooker,' because it's precise. But I certainly wouldn't say I identify as a common 'whore.' What I do is so much more than that.

Thanks for that. I think. ;)
