Anyone seen the Stock Market Lately?
The DOW is still near 10,000, but so what? Nearly 40% of the NYSE is just financial derivatives. Does anybody even invest in productive companies anymore? Stock brokers have changed their titles to "investment bankers" & capital has become synonymous with debt. Nearly 80% of the labor force is employed by small businesses that aren't traded on the stock market anyway. The stock market is an indicator of trading on the stock market & not much else. Why is the big casino even in the same conversation as jobs?

Haven't you heard? No need for worry. We have it on the authority of Jim DeMint et al. that all those people who are currently unemployed as just lazy slugs.

North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. From what I've read they didnt experience a housing boom, so they also missed out on the bust. 3-4% unemployment is pretty enviable...if you can handle those winters!

Here's an interesting sidebar: I read today that Dell (computers) is losing millions due to defective parts made in foreign countries.

I am self employed and that is my line of work. Most of what I do is automotive related. I live within 5 blocks from where I grew up and have been considering a move to find more work. Michigan #1 on the list. YES (fist pump)!!

Burrrrr! I'm guessing that's why they didn't have a housing boom. That and who'd want to live in the Dakotas? I always thought they should combine the two states into one and save on the salaries of two senators and those of their staffs. That would reduce the size of government & save money at the same time. The downside is two unemployed senators would boost their unemployment rate into the double figures. :)

As dismal as the rest of my fiscal current is, my markets are actually up, after a sorry-ass start to the week. It's all a matter of timing and placement. I'm up about 10% since the beginning of the week in foreign markets (The Barclay Index).

Heh @ Cupertino. :) Infinite Loop Drive?

Obama could do SO much to create jobs right here in America but he doesnt want to do that.
People need to understand that Barrack Obama is way worse than George Bush ever was.
Obama is a corporatist and a globalist.
He doesnt care about Americans at all and only does the bidding of his corporate masters who are also globalists,neo-imperialists and internationalists.
I believe whats been going on has been carefully planned and its going to get worse.
You must understand that you are slowly being turned into a slave.
