The new film "Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives" will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival. The movie is being protested by trans women who find the word "tranny" offensive.

I personally don’t find it offensive in anyway; do other girls here think it’s an offensive term?

Speaking of terms...I find the word Transgendered extremely offensive, it horrible. It’s a term that came out 10-15 yrs ago by the medical community. They came up with the word that covers anyone gender different, from a married crossdresser to a post op stealth woman; in their eyes we are all just the same. Well, I have worked far too hard in my transition to be given the same title as some 60 year old grandfather who cashes in his 401k and gets a sex change, or a married heterosexual man who wears women’s panties.

I think it looks funny as hell. So, no. I'm not offended. I think people really need to worry more about why American kids can't read or do basic math, or why this country is steadily sliding down the shit tubes.

As far as "TG" goes; the grandpas you mentioned are not only the worst examples of a "TS". They also usually have the biggest mouthes, and appoint themselves to explain what transsexuality "is". Btw ever notice that they get that surgery in countries where no psych test is required? That's because more than half of them are bored old pervs who can't prove they're sane. lol

Not sure how, or if this relates...but I'm veggin' out the other night watching the tube and one of those shows American Justice was on a cable channel. ( MSNBC) Anyway, it's a trial about a lady who injected too much silicone and later died. There were 4 trannys who were witnesses in the case and the narrator kept referring to them as "he" or Him and using their male names rather than the names they went by now. It was clear to me these ladies were well along in the transition and actually looked pretty fucking good. For a network that is in a partnership with "The Advocate" it just seemed rude, insensitive and crass. Maybe someone should send the reporters to sensitivity training? It just sounded creepy. I'm hardly an overly senstive guy and hate all this PC shit, but damn man...call the lady by "her" name !

ive noticed TS and CD/TV are very different from each other. i have many TV clientelle that almost become friends with me but ive noticed i cant relate to them at all. they are very different from a typical TS girl. i can even relate much easy to GG than TV

just my 2 cents worth

The biggest difference between TS and CD is; TS transition because that's who they are inside, but CDs get a passing sexual thrill from clothing. I can't relate to CDs at all in that sense.

I relate more to drag queens, who are not getting dressed to simply get a hard-on. My gender identity is who I am on the inside. Before my parents explained to me at the age of 2 that having a penis means "male", I just assumed that I was female. lol I also feel NOTHING romantic for women. I could never marry one or be in a lesbian relationship. I have zero interest.

Does this movie have any kind of extreme violence in it or is it just a comedy?

As far as I can tell from the previews, it's just a comedy.

I think protesting this film would be like Al Sharpton protesting "I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka"

I agree that the people protesting the title need to get a life.
Too bad it's just a comedy. The title sounds like something that Herschell Gordon Lewis would have made. Though his movies did contain a lot of unintentional comedy.

... or Russ Meyer. lol

Btw, most of the titles of the DVDs here are also offensive... outside the context of porn. "Shemale" is a very offensive term outside the porn and escort businesses. Pre-op drag queens, who wouldn't be caught dead untucked on a stage, will bare all for an adult photo-shoot. Because, like with most things, there's a time and a place.

ND...I've always wondered the "clinical" difference between the two, and you've explained it perfectly better than anyone else. Foolisly I once thought a CD was the first step in the transition, but I now realize they are very different thanks to you and others on HA..( which is the informational part of HA I have come to appreciate) . It also fascinated me that T Gurls usually have contempt for CD's. Maybe contempt is a bit strong, but it's more than an indifference. So what would you call those guys you referred to that want to try on your clothes? Cross Dressers? Sissys? Confused? LOL

Actually, the word transgender was coined by Virgina Prince probably more than 30 (?) years ago, not the medical community. Prince was a middle aged heterosexual transvestite who hated homosexuals, transsexuals, and apart from that had major misogynistic beliefs. At the time, the words meaning were more like "straight CD on hormones". "She" used it to describe "herself". I agree, the word is offensive and I refuse to used because of its origin.

Tranny is not an offensive term to me, I also don't find transgender offensive. Words are not what offend me the intentions behind them often do.

I understand why people who find transgender offensive feel that way. CD's TV's and TS's are not the same. The reasons we even use that word now have more to do with politics. We are all seen as being the same by the mainstream, and the self proclaimed "leaders" are steeped in, and covered by, that main stream.

Those grandpa's who have their op at 67 and want to become "leaders of the TG community" come from the mainstream of society. Many of them were TV's and CD's then became TS's so to them how can their be a huge difference between them self and their old TV or CD buddies? Plus these people have the time, resources, and credentials to convince media and LGB groups that they are "leaders" of the whole community.

It has to be said that at the cost of the big transgender tent we have all gained some rights. i.e. Almost all employment and fair housing laws that mention us at all mention us as transgender.

The word tranny is not offensive to me. The word just means a woman who used to be or is physically a male. It is often applied to known TS's and DQ's who on sight look like they must be full time. I don't think I have ever hear that word applied to a CD'er.

The one's who find it offensive are often, as others pointed out, people who lived as middle class males for 50 or 60 years. Leaving aside any hidden gender identity or what have they. Living a mainstream life... possibly loathing those people known as trannies...possibly seeing them as clients...almost never seeing them as equals.

Honestly they should find something real to be angry about. The trailers make that movie look funny. A theatrical showing of this in Chicago would probably not happen the "transgender" leaders would not stand for it.

It was OK. I was expecting something as offensive as the T-Girl version of I Spit On Your Grave. Early John Waters is way raunchier.

But an actor/actress doesn't have to a be transsexual to play a transsexual in a film.

So if you look like "Bubbles" - that makes you a "tranny"?! - 10 pounds of make up and big hair......

To me, the definition of "tranny" was poorly portrayed in the film. IMHO
