Gotta agree with Willie. Herbie is the man, seen him 3 times, each time totally different and completely awesome.
Last album listened to is "In Praise Of Dreams" by Jan Garbarek...Superb.

I love it all. But I love when someone tries something new. Here jazz meets hip hop or vice versa. But Herbie is my favorite piano player. And I'm a piano player. I have "Speak Like Child" on vinyl.

Personally I dislike pretty much all Jazz. I've given it a try but it just doesn't work nowadays. Older stuff pre Rock actually tends to be better than the stuff post Rock. Krupa's stuff is okay.

I find myself listening to more things on YouTube these days. Like new live perfomances of old songs. Speaking of Herbie Hancock:

The Herbie Hancock classic updated with an all-star band: Herbie Hancock, piano; Pat Methany, guitar; Dave Holland, bass; and Jack DeJohnette, drums.

Cantelope Island.

Big time Jazz aficionado here. Two that i would recommend. Both were recorded live. The first is just released and the other was released a few years back. "Heaven on Earth" featuring James Carter and "The Improvisor" by Von Freeman. Both feature fresh and dynamic sax play by artists on top of their game. Carter is among the best of this generations tenor/baritone sax players and Freeman is one of the few "old lions" left among us that still has command of his instrument. Check these two discs out. They don't disappoint.

Saw James Carter play with my city's Symphony Orchestra. Great night and I took my gf, a non jazz lover, and she loved it. Mr. Carter was tight and had one solo too cool to describe, just had to be there.

not terribly recent, but a great album from a woefully ignored and important artist.
