I discovered an extrordinary trans woman activist, who lives in New Orleans. Her name is Telaasia Clark. After going through the many hardships that trans women fact through life, her eyes have been opened that there are other ways to live besides the routes of drugs and sex work. A most interesting thing is that she has returned to the church as an open transgender woman, and has encouraged her t-girl friends to do so also. Here is link to a video of her speaking in church, reading a poem she wrote, about the lives of women like herself.

She is also a fun loving person, and one can see different aspects of her life on her YouTube channel. Some of it is from a bar and streets of New Orleans French Quarter. Stop by and check her out if you can.
