I've been pretty quiet on this forum as of late. I couldn't string together enough shoots in a row, and had to leave LA unfortunately. So, now I'm back in dreary old Washington, just in time for winter. Rain, rain and extended periods of gray are expected for the next 8 months or so. Planning my return, and just waiting it out. This is gonna be a long cold winter....

Stop being so melodramatic Ray. I live in rural Washington and so does Delia. Sammy shoots tons of content in Seattle both for his TS sites and his female sites and there is no male talent up here. Yum also occasionally shoots girls in Portland and Seattle. So you might not be totally out of options.

I love having a home up here, and then spending part of my time in California.

Just use that experience as inspiration to get back here doing what you love. In those 8 months you should look into learning photoshop, lighting, photography, set building, html, flash, etc... Anything bonus that you can bring to the job and help your chances of continued work in the business.

Thanks Mandy and Captain, Those are both helpful posts. I definitely want to have a camera and some editing software when I go back. For all the porn being shot in the valley, there seems to be a serious lack of people who have any kind of real love for it. Not a complete lack, but too many people trying to squeeze every last drop of blood out of it, rather than making killer smut. But I'm bitter of course.

Ray,
Spend the winter putting in resumes and trying to land a job in LA, or more specifically the valley. I have read all your posts, and before you think I'm jumping off where I have no experience, I've been where you were. I landed in L.A. with $200. I did everything imaginable, from pushing a broom, working in tape duplication room, shipping and handling, ghost writing, waiter, bartender, writing content. system admin to a chatroom/webcam place, web design, house sitter, the list goes on.

I was in shoots, plenty of them. I shot with some of the biggest names in the fetish world. This was all when the economy was strong, and the internet was just getting going. Now, you need a j.o.b. first. Even gg and ts models are having some tough times. Male talent...no ways.

Ray, you offer your life's ups and downs here, so I write this not to dog you out. I sympathize as someone who has been there. Take care of business first. get a night gig, whatever. Then you have all day long to chase those dreams.

If you want to learn editing etc, get a job that will pay you to learn. I worked shipping and handling at a fetish video place, I started picking up web design by helping the webmaster, the same with editing.
