Well, it happened. My time in LA ran out. Just couldn't string enough shoots together. Now that I'm back in my little home town, all I can think about is how to get back to the valley. What a drag it is! Hope I can return before too long! Sorry to anyone I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to. Good luck and take care of each other.

Hang in there Ray! The economy and porn industry is slow right now, you'll probably get a phone call soon..

I've left town, so I don't think a phone call will help me now.

Your obsessed by him. The more you post about him, the more sales he makes!
He's a producer and shooter, not just a performer.

So I'm now back in the ever rainy PNW, I'm wondering what type(s) of things I can study or learn about that would be useful in a "not in front" of the camera type way. Like website design, and learning to edit footage into clips. I should have had a plan b to fall back on until I had a solid reputation as "male talent". I was doing far too much sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. I need some more 21st century job skills.

Ray, do you think you would have gotten more work if you were versatile?

Ray, do you think you would have gotten more work if you were versatile?probably. I'm unsure, but "bottoming" may pay more too.

well, shit, you said you weren't gonna do it and you didn't do it even if it meant more money. that's respectable.

I came to Los Angeles several years ago to break into the adult industry, looking for str8 B/G work only. After 1 year of looking I had only 2 str8 scenes and was offered a ton of Gay and TS work but turned it down (I have a very athletic pretty boy look those companies like). I even had one company offer to fly me to south america to perform in TS videos, which I turned down( I wasnt into TS at that point). I work in mainstream film now and had an easier time breaking into mainstream than str8 adult videos. The point is it is difficult for guys to get into adult videos but it can be done if you are persistent. You cant just sit around, you have to constantly be proactive.

I don't think I badgered production companies enough. And I'm not good at self promotion period. I'd like to come back to LA, but I'm gonna bring a camera and be able to shoot my own content, amateurish as it may turn out. My problem was thinking once I did a few scenes, word would get around and people would come looking for the new guy. What the fuck was I thinking???

I don't think it was wrong to have that thought. Problem is 99% of male talent in TS porn are essentially props. Live versions of dildos that can give real pop shots. The only way I think a guy could be highly sought after in TS porn is if he was ridiculously hung. Like 11+ inches. That or be famous from something beforehand. Even then he would make 20x more money if he did gay porn.

males in TS and straight porn are props. I did about 10 straight porn shoots as well as my TS scenes. I had hoped my performance and dunno how to say it, personality or likeability would be enough to set me apart. WRONG,....WRONG....WRONG......... lmao. I need to be more in the drivers seat next time. There are a lot of crap directors and producers in the valley. I found myself fighting to do scenes for people I knew were shooting work that was mediocre at best. People who make porn should have some affinity or affection for it. Some understanding of what makes a hot scene. There is simply too much oral/oral/missionary/rev. cowgirl/doggy and then pop type formulaic scenes. Don't wonder why this formerly "recession proof" industry has been in a downturn the last few years. It's run (in large part) by a bunch of fat old dinosaurs, more interested in squeezing every last cent out of it than making hot content. Now there's a rant!

Sorry to see you go, Ray. I was hoping to get to meet you one day/night at Club Cobra, The palms, or such. I enjoyed your view on many things, particularly your politics. The best of luck on all your future endeavors.
