I totally called it on Miers withdrawing! Haha! I really did, it's posted on here somewhere.

I bet Gonzales gets the next nomination. I could be wrong, but it's a hunch.

The Miers thing was a pretty good of political smokescreening, I called it exactly also.
Put forward a woman with no relevant experience, leak her agendas from the 90's and her staunch right wing anti-abortion issues and have her demonised in the press ("sucking satans cock you little bitch..." - Bill Hicks!) when you drop her nomination, the next guy who is a rightwing cocksucker also, doesn't look quite so bad next to Miers.
YourDaddy are you republican fiscally and US as the agressor, or also down with the other religiously motivated issues that seem to have been the only reason, Bush got in twice?

seanchaiNo seanchi, I'm just a good old American boy, who grew away from organized religion about 30 years ago. I'm still in the Union, still work hard for a living, voted for Jimmy Carter (whoops), voted for bill clinton (whoops), but finally realized that demsare actually not any different from the politburo. When no one else has any money, they will be in total power. That's all dems understand and practice and preach....total power over the masses.

I've said before that I wish there were more third party choices, and a third party strong enough to attract someone who is electible..I'm disgusted by how beholden the dems are to corporate interests, nowadays...but for me...sometimes you have to hold your nose, and vote for the lesser of two evils...I will continue to vote against the religious right...I am very sympathetic with a great deal of the libertarian agenda, however...

Ok - given that in my opinion, both the dems and reps preach total power over the masses (please American get a viable 3rd party) - you support the Republicans based on how you think they're going to run the US. What are you're personal feelings on:
1/ The abortion issue?
2/ Gay marriage?
3/ Gun Control?
4/ Religion in schools?

It seems that many many Americans vote purely on one of the above agendas and not on the big picture. That is fine when in general it's going with your thoughts but what if it was going against you. Do you not feel that the Republican stance is weakened somewhat by having what many (including most of the rest of the world) see as "crazies"?
I don't think any government leader in a democracy should be putting their religion at the front of so many of their policies (that includes you Mr Blair).

ok

can someone explain to me why we need to own guns?Yes, it's a worn out, trite saying, and I hate to quote it. " when owning guns is criminalized, only criminals will own guns" I have had my house broken into 4 times in 20 years. 3 of those times, they stole guns that I keep for self defense. How would you like to get shot with your own gun? Those hoodlums only understand firepower. That is their ticket to macho.

Same reason people are into antique cars, harley motorcycles etc. It gives them something to talk about and they feel like they are part of something. Other than that, I really can't think of a good reason, unless your are into hunting.

No offense to the Harely guys, or antique car owners.

Yeah, I know, my post sounds pretty lame and stupid to me also.

the only gun I own is between my legs...but my only problem with gun ownership is automatic weapons...I don't hunt...but neither am I a vegan, so I can't speak out against fair hunting...not that shit they do on the game preserves, or whatever they call em

hondarobot
10-28-2005, 02:06 AM
I don't agree with being opposed to guns in general. They are dangerous, but so are lots of things. I mean, lots of commonly available things are far more dangerous than a gun.

There should be gun control, many people should not own them. But a gun is just a machine, and machines have ways to be used for good or bad. Admittedly, guns have only one purpose, but self defense is not a bad option for some people (I know, that sounds like John Wayne looney bullshit, but really it is true sometimes).

I wouldn't want to live in a society that said no private citizen could own one.

It's a Big Question, just my take on it and I can see both sides of the argument.

AllanahStarrNYC
10-28-2005, 02:15 AM
huh i see-

to protect you from who alpha?

yourdaddy said himself his house was broken into and his guns were stolen- then in the hands of more criminals.

well- i think guns, unless for law enforcement are pretty pointless. i am all for gun control

Come on now Allanah, what would all the hard drinking private eyes do without a gun in the pocket of their rumpled suits? I love hard drinking private eyes, the world would suck without that kinda flair. You gotta slap the bad guys with something from time to time.

hehe. But really, gun control good, no guns at all would be bad, just my opinion.

Oh, and I don't hunt, but I do eat meat. Hunting just seems kinda boring and weird.

"restoring honor and dignity to the oval office"

Quinn

I started looking into Patrick Fitzgerald's track record just to see what type of prosecutor he is. He is exceedingly thorough/meticulous and definitely not the type of guy that you want looking into your background. Still, I would be surprised if he gets any further than Libby. If there's one thing that has become painfully obvious over the last twenty five years, it's that the White House is a great shield to hide behind when seeking to avoid prosecution as a senior public official.

I'm betting Karl Rove is found guilty of high treason and is publicly executed.

Or it gets no further then Libby. It could go either way on this one.

chefmike
10-29-2005, 04:57 AM
for those of you still voting...
scooter libby was "cheney the dick's" white house chief of staff...
so, yes...there have been white house indictments...

now the question is...will there be further indictments?...

because if you think libby acted alone, without rove and cheney's knowledge....

then I got some nice real estate in the swamp to sell you...

and while I would love to see shrubya waving his resignation goodbye...ala tricky dick nixon...may he rest in hell...

I think the best we can hope for is a rove indictment...or a public hanging, as honda predicted...which I would buy tickets to...and have a tailgate party...everyone's invited, especially you schmucks who voted for vast left wing conspiracy...suck it up!

hondarobot
10-29-2005, 05:22 AM
Oh come on ChefMike, you know the public execution thing was just an absurd point. Nice take on it, though.

Karl Rove, and Cheney, and the whole current White House Gang have been playing dirty pool for years. They should be held accountable.

I was just being silly with the execution thing.

It also occurs to me that this post I'm making is retarded, I'm just drunk right now.

Good Night!

Cheers...I'm fixing some tex-mex...as a salute to shrubya...and I wasn't kidding about my tailgate party, there's some collateral damage I can support...I wonder what all the retarded people he executed in Texas had for their last meal...probably the same thing... as the sheep who voted for vast left wing conspiracy....enjoy!!

twowaybro
10-29-2005, 08:42 AM
well now....let's c....in all likelihood Libby will take the fall 2 protect Cheney....and Rove will probably cut some kind of deal 2 avoid jail time but imo these charges and this scandal is but a clever smokescreen that will divert one's attention from the total dismantling of all of our civil liberties in the guise of "Homeland Security". The following link is a good example....

Scooter Libby is rolling over on Cheney...and lets not forget that Agnew resigned before "tricky dick" Nixon - whose legacy shrubya not only appears to be destined to follow, but follow on a far "grander" scale...

IMO, Bush is safe from impeachment. He is in the dark about much of what is going on. Cheney has his own agenda and fills in Pres when he needs to.
If anything goes down, it will be Cheney who will take the heat. And Bush will give him a pardon.
And in the end the Big Dick (Cheney) will get away with all the shit he helped, and continue making million on Weapon contracts.
