Sure, "ebay" is a good site to get an "external hard drive" from. There are other, better sites. Just make sure, before you buy, you check the "reviews" for that particular "seller." You don't want to get stuck with some "bait and switch" "seller" or caught in a local LE sting "ebay sale." TOFTT is a dumb idea.

Also, always use protection when you buy your "hard drive" from an "ebay seller." You don't want to "catch" any "negative feedback."

Oh, wait... are you really talking about external hard drives? Like, storage media?

Oh, shit. Sorry.

Go to Best Buy for local or check dealnews for online.

I like to shop on newegg and I really like the Western Digital MyBook series. I have a 1TB drive I'm using right now. I think there's a 2TB drive out as well.

Go to TigerDirect.com and search on External Hard Drives.

Western Digital is the biggest seller.

I have a WD 1TB drive that is really nice and I just purchased an Iomega 1TB external. Check out newegg, tigerdirect and even best buy for customer reviews. As someone in the IT field, I will tell you that the failure of hard drives is 100%. it's not a matter of if, but when it will crash.

It was brand new and it didn't have anything on it. I got like 61 GB left.

Tigerdirect, Bestbuy, Microcenter, are good places to buy. I've also made a few by adding an enclosure to a drive.

Western Digital, Seagate, Maxtor, are ones I prefer.

Newegg is by far one of the best places to check out

I second Newegg.com....
I also like the site techbargains.com they usually tell you where you can find some of the best deals. Just search "external hard drive" and you'll have all sorts of options.

Mine a LaCie, but that might be Europe-only... award-winning enclosure design, looks great next to my Mac.

as far as the best, they all seem to work pretty good, i've got a couple seagates, iomega, free agent, and a couple WDs. probably about 6Ts total

my newest is a WD 1T and it cost 109$ at best buy.

the reason for all the external HDs....why of course TGirl porn.

I've had Buffalo External Drives for over two years, no problems. One has a Samsung drive (500GB) and the other has a Western Digital (250GB).

Western Digital are safe bets, you can get a 1TB for $99 now, some times less, look around. Try Slickdeals.net or Pricewatch

LaCie's are widely available here, even the Porsche version...

Newegg is pretty good but I actually use Amazon since I get free shipping and no tax. I buy almost everything through amazon now. Never had any problems.

I have 2 Iomega Prestige 1 TB that I purchased for around $100 each. I had some computer problems after buying them so I am not sure if they contributed to the problem. With that said they do a good job and hold a shitload of files. They do tend to heat up a bit and are warm to the touch when in use.

About a month ago I got the Western Digital Elements 1 TB. So far it has been almost flawless. Not a speed demon but gets the job done. It was about $110. It also seems more durable and I don't notice any noise or heat.

NEVER BUY STUFF LIKE THIS IN DEPARTMENT STORES. They are usually $10-35 more expensive than online.

I concur with both the recommendation for Newegg and Western Digital. Both have served me well.
