Really, if you're feeling good, or if you're even just mediocre, you should turn back now. I need to "vent", only that's something I need to do when I'm angry, and I'm not nearly so angry as I am just kinda bummed out. Seriously, stop reading now.

In early January, I moved to the San Fernando valley, affectionately known as "porn Valley" at least by those with an affection for porn. I had a pretty fair chunk of change to live on while I "broke in" and became an established male performer. I have had many an adventure and also misadventure in the past six months. Unfortunately, I haven't really established myself. My money has run out, and I'm gonna have to move back to un-sunny Washington. It's a big time bummer.

I thought I was willing to do anything to stay here and keep pursuing "the dream", but it turns out I have some limits. (who knew) I was talking to a gay porn director about possibly doing some work, but as we started to hash out the details, it occured to me there's pretty much no fuckin' way I will ever be able to do that. I had talked myself into doing what had to be done, but there's just no way. At least I recognized it before I got on set and wrecked a whole shoot.

Anyways, that's my big sad story, and yes, I do feel a bit better now. I guess at least I took the chance and rolled the dice. And I did have a lot of fun. Back to the salt mines for now.

Hey, at least you gave it a shot. Most guys fantasize about being in porn but are too chicken to actually pursue it. I admire your guts. Who knows what's in store for you in the future? Just because you ran out of funds doesn't mean you can't rebound from it and give it another go.

Nick or Isa at Shemale-Club

Couldn't find much straight work either I'm assuming? You should try the directors that Wendy suggested, there are more companies to work for than just grooby.

What about the agencies? Did you try any of them?

I tried a few agencies, they don't really wanna talk to you unless you've got a fairly long list of shoots, I'd say at least 50 scenes. I've done maybe 10, and that's if you include bukkake and the great American suck off, which are hardly "scenes". And producers/production companies get mobbed by dudes like me all day long, so much so I actually feel sorry for whoever answers the phones and email. I guess I haven't really failed at much, or at least not as completely as I have at this. It fuckin' really smarts!

Sorry to hear that Ray.
We get a load of guys contacting us asking for work and I usually advise them, if they're in the areas that we shoot hardcore (Vegas, Florida, NYC and LA) then we can probably use them but very few actually come through.
I also usually mention that it would be near to impossible to make a good living doing TS only porn (as a male performer) - companies like Grooby only needs about 12 US hardcores a month, the other production companies mentioned probably around the same or less ... so figure if your in LA maybe 40 hardcore scenes a month or less (given hardcores aren't only shot in LA) and they don't want to all use the same guy.
As you said, at least you give it a shot and kept your integrity to what you wanted to do.

Well most producers dont want every person on the net having email addresses however if you send me your stage name, stats, current photos of face body etcc, contact info (cell and email) and what you are into I will forward the info to the said above producers.

As far as the "straight" side you have to be careful how you market yourself. Dont use ts porn as a reference as sadly you would loose more work than get!

I know right now its just slow period with productions (atleast for me).

If you get that into to me Ray Ill forward it for you!!

Yeah, before moving to LA I had never even talked to a TGgirl. After dating one for a month, I started to think maybe sexual preference could be a more fluid, or at least bendable thing. But I know now an attraction to TGgirls is of course absolutely hetero. When that director started asking "do you think you could be into this, or possibly this, or maybe that" I jusy knew there was no way in hell I could ever do that stuff with another man. Maybe when I was younger or something. Then again, maybe not. I just do not dig men. Yech!

Why not get a day job like most aspiring actors i.e. waiting tables, go go dancing, webcamming and even escorting etc. amongst other things..while in between looking for projects? Won't you hate moving back home somewhat a failure? I mean this is your dream isn't it? To become a porn star? You're already here and got your foot in the door..might as well swim with the sharks if I were you! The only way is forward, not back. ;)

you almost have to get a night job, as most shoots happen in the afternoon. It's not uncommon for a shoot to go from 11:00 AM until 5 or 6 at night, so it's tuff to schedule around it.

Another thing Ray, you've only been at it for six months. Six months is not exactly a long time to establish yourself in the adult film industry especially with all the competition. I'm sure each and every one of the ladies who post here and also work in porn have had setbacks too. They probably felt like quitting many times too but stuck with it. I'll second the suggestion that you try to get a job so you'll have a steady income and continue to try to find work in porn on the side.

Neither, it means varied, but it works with hetero. I believe that some guys who are into Tgirls are gay, some bisexual and some straight. Probably the rougher sorts and hairy TVs and CDs are of more interest to gays on one end of the spectrum, while the post-ops are going to be more likely to appeal to straight guys.

Anyway, I hope a great opportunity comes along for you.

Get out of LA while you still can. That's my advice. You know Sammy from Shemale Strokers shoots stuff in Seattle frequently, I bet you could come on back to an occasional gig working for him if you proved yourself, not much in the way of male talent up here in the PNW.

If you could get over not wanting to bottom you could probably get work at TSSeduction as well.

It's prettier up here, the air is fresh and clean :)

Like I said previously, try and get a day job while waiting for porn bookings. So porn is shot during the day..I'm sure IF you gotten a day job you can call in sick or have a co-worker cover your shift or trade shifts with. If your attitude and way of thinking is to wait or look for a job at night - that's stupid. You're limiting yourself to other possible options. It's not like you'll be shooting porn everyday, right?

Lets face it, our economy isn't that great to begin with. But if illegal Mexicans without a social security numbers can get a job so can you! I think you need a thicker skin and not be picky in terms of jobs you could get. I mean, IF you're eyes are really set on the prize (of doing porn and becoming a porn star) You'll have to make do with what is there for you for the time being. If you start being negative and pessimistic about opportunities the more it will shy away from you. Think about it..when will you ever get back doing porn again if you moved back to Washington? 38 is not 24..Strike while you're still at it. Or you might just missed your boat. My final 2 cents!

Never take anything I say literallly, I'm often not sure whether I'm being serious or not. Some nights I think I'll go insane if I have to spend another week up here, and decide I'm moving back to California, and then other times I can't imagine ever leaving.

If you want to stay in LA, and you want to do porn, you have to find a side job. Work as a bouncer at a strip club, get a job as a security guard, valet, and do what you have to do. We all have to hustle. Hopefully after another six months things will be really different for you.

Before you give up you should at least give the scenes you shot time to get released, so people get to know you.

Get a job. Any job.

I followed my dream to L.A. 11 years ago. I worked my ass off. I didnt have a car, rode a mountain bike from Hollywood to Canoga Park 5 days a week to be system operator in a live cam place. ( There was no Red Line under Cahuenga pass back then) When I wasnt doing that, I was doing shipping at a pantyhose fetish place. Then when the day was over, I still had that long ride back home.

Your destination is slightly different than mine was, but I ended up doing videos, ghost writing a book, webmastering for the most famous dominatrix at the time, amongst other things. There were days I didnt know where I would get something to eat, but I couldnt imagine quiting.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you will ever get rich being male talent In TS films. But you have already broken in, and you say its your dream. So get a job, get two jobs. Network, go to gigs, and live your dreams and do shoots when they come up.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Some people, some from LA and some who've never lived here, hate it, and wonder what the hell a person would move here for. But I loved it. This I can totally relate to having lived in Los Angeles for 23 of my 44 years of existence.Once you live in LA you find yourself getting accustomed to that lifestyle and it is truly hard to get over. With me my so called luck ran out in 2004 I had to pack up all my personal belongings and then arrange to have a moving company move everything cross country.I know this isn't what you want here right now,but everything does happen for a reason.I know at this moment there really is no right answer. All I can suggest is try and keep a positive attitude.Try to think about all the good things that hometown you came from has to offer you. Also remember you're not leaving LA a failure you did quite well for yourself, you got to pursue your dream which more than a lot people can say.Los Angeles is tough in general no matter what you do because there is so much competion. So many people go there to pursue their dreams.

I just don't see how how a guy in the porn industry can make a fortune making $800-$1200 per shoot in an adult theatre.

I think this industry is more focused on the rising shemale stars and not men.
