As far as culinary expertise on the food network, I wouldn't rank any of the women's shows in the top tier....IMHO...

and I'd have to agree with Allanah on Nigella's sex appeal....but I also like the suburban MILF appeal of "the homemade lady"...

Allanah, you are right, I forgot about Nigella. But I don't think she is on the food network anymore. BTW I believe hers was the first tv cooking show that critics began calling "food porn" because they use a lot of the techniques of shooting porn for shooting cooking. Nigella is actually a little more plump than she looks on the show, so they would film from all these weird angles and quick shots and little slices of her body.

There was an article in I think Harpers or New Yorker just a week ago about how all the Foodnetwork shows are "food porn" and those techniques have become universal. The crew even calls the shot of the finished meal, the "money shot" just like in porn.

Chefmike, I know you were not talking about almost homemade lady's cooking; was just adding my 2 cents that of all of them, her food is the most unpalatable -- unless you include some of the Japanese iron chef guys when they get a weird ingredient like live octopus and decide to make ice cream out of it!
