I know a well known tgirl pornstar and there are some people who ripped off her name and a bunch of pictures and are now running what would appear to be her site, but she has nothing to do with it, and in fact doesn't see a dime. I hope she sues the shit out of them, but the point I'm trying to make is sometimes site design/updates are not the performers fault.

It all boils down to content. If she can put out content on a steady basis than her site should do well. Photo shoots and video production is expensive plus hair and make-up expenses can take their toll , unless it's all webcam amateur stuff. Remember by subscribing to her site you are investing in her.

Good points. We've went into pre-production a few times on sites and it's never worked out. Many girls get bored very fast and when the zillions don't roll in, in the first few weeks, lose interest. Working a site takes a lot of work and it needs not only regular photo and video updates but personal interaction.

well put seanchai. this has been my experience as well. solo sites are never worth the money. the lifespan of a solo site is usually very short and unless the girl is very creative and interactive the site becomes stale. unless the girl is a big star like kimber james membership will only be mediocre. imo girls that do solo sites do them for only a few reasons, greed, ego, advertising for their other services like escorting. stick with the larger sites like shemale yum or bobs. good luck.

What qualifies you to say this? Running a solo site takes a lot of work and requires operating on a shoestring budget.

I know for myself I tried for about 3 years to make my old solo site (mandytgirl.com) work and finally realized that without a solid partnership with a company that did web design, marketing, etc....I would never make any money.

People couldn't always tell, but I busted my ass for my old site. Travelled all over to shoot content, shot gigs for other companies to finance my own productions (even when the profit wasn't going to show for months down the line), edited my movies, designed my site (and believe me I would rather do anything than fuck around with html all day) answered whiny complaints from people who couldn't figure out how to download movie files, and on and on. On top of that, I had entered into a bad business arrangement when I was just starting out in the industry (as happens to many girls who start solo sites) so I never really made much money off of all that hard work. Finally I just said fuck it and decided to stop updating my old site. I will be launching a new one soon (www.mandy-mitchell.com), but I think you guys are full of shit when you make these kind of judgements.

First of all, you will go and pay 30 bucks for a DVD (or maybe you just get everything off of the tube sites) which has 4 or 5 scenes, and yet you complain when you pay the same amount for 30 scenes? What is wrong with this picture?

One of the biggest reasons so many TS run solo sites is that unlike our GG and male counterparts in the adult industry, there just isn't steady work available for most of us like there is for non TS performers. So some of us who want to work regularly take it upon ourselves to put hardwork into a project.

My suggestion is you write the model in question and ask her what the deal is, then find a site that you do like.

i disagree ... solo sites can be fantastic sites to sign up to...it all depends on the model in question.. does she take it seriously, is this a main source of income etc

for example my website is costing me quite alot of money to setup, shoot content, pay models, editing etc, so i wont on even break even for a while .....

Why am i doing this ?? simple i am egomaniac and i want to show off of course as do all models .... but also there is only so many times a model can shoot for one of the bigger sites, its not like you can say hey shoot me each week please... so the reason is simple you appear on big sites to generate interest in yourself as a person then have your own site as your flagship site where peopel can see you regualry ...

Yes i agree alot of solo sites are absoloute shit and update once in a blue moon, but then many models bend over backwards to make their solo sites work and can be far more creative with their content than what would allow them on a big pay site...

For me if i was to sign up to a solo paysite, and i will admit i am signed up to a couple of paysites (not transsexual ones mind) but i chose them sites as i liked what the model was doing and they way she shoots her content is very uniqe and different..and she updates twice a week, talks on webcam etc...

Also i 200% agree with what mandy has just said ....just check out the site tours, maybe email the model ask them about their updates etc. what other sites do they appear on etc...

SO agree with Mandy and Liberty on this.

Most people will never completely understand the time and energy it takes to run a website and especially as a independent owner. I think many girls so tend to jump into things not knowing how to run a website or understanding the commitment it really is. And, like seanchai said, when the money doesn't come rushing in, which anyone who understands the business realizes that those sites are very few and far between, lose interest in updating and maintaining their sites.

That being said... there are those of us who DO put A LOT of time and energy into creating unique and interesting sites with great content. My new site has been up for over a year now and has over 200 galleries, 50 solo videos always in rotation, and currently over 75 xxx videos. Additionally, I purchase extra guest content on a regular basis for Members to enjoy.

Realize that many solo girls starting off don't typically have the resources needed to launch a successful site so rely on others to 'help.' I found myself in much the same boat as Mandy and saved pennies and dimes to be able to launch my own site after realizing I was doing most of the work and seeing no profit. And, as with Mandy, I don't really have control over my old site as I never really 'owned it.' Typically if anyone joins my old site, which is still up although I have nothing to do with it, and then emails me complaining, I give them full membership to my new site.

I do my best to show potential members exactly what they get for their dollars and I've had VERY few complaints... I can remember two in the past year and one of those was due to him trying to view my site on dial-up (duh...not going to work well).

Anyway... before I continue this diatribe... I totally agree with Mandy. As with ALL PORN... it's buyer beware. Flashy ads, templates, tour areas... those are fairly easy to accomplish with some money. If you plunk down 30 bucks for a site you know nothing about than the front page is pretty and makes your dick hard, then... sorry to say... you deserve to lose it.

Putting true soul and personality into a site is much, much harder than you think and while I agree that such solo sites are hard to come by, they do exist and it is wrong to generalize and say that ALL solo sites are shit.

It's one thing to say something from experience but your comment, even with the clarifying, 'imo' is just incorrect. Following that same line of reasoning, that's pretty much why people go to any job (or do anything in life)... either money, sex, power, recognition, or a myriad combination of those. Why in the world would you slam girls for starting sites when they're just trying to make a living like anyone else?

I find it completely ironic that your signature speaks about "[looking] below the surface and you will never need to judge" with such an attitude.

I for one, operate my site because I enjoy it. I'm well educated, extremely employable (having recently just left a well paying job), and hard working. The site is a side interest of mine and someday I hope it will allow me to do bigger and better things in my life. For now, it is an avenue to approach those things and pay off student loans.

Change your signature or change your attitude (EDIT: and I mean this with all goodwill and somewhat in fun... I'm not in the habit of putting others down or disrespecting their opinions, I just think your signature obviously doesn't fit how you perceive life... just some little saying you picked up that you thought would make you look smart :) )
