Donnie Darko is great.

I thought Donnie Darko was overhyped and kind of pretentious
Can't wait for Chris Cunningham to make a feature though, just watch Come to Daddy or Rubber Johnny (maybe even All is Full of Love) and you'll se why I'm excited.

Eraserhead

Strangest (and at times funniest) movie I've ever seen. It launched David Lynch's career. He wrote/directed Dune, Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet, and his masterpiece, The Elephant Man, plus the strange TV series Twin Peaks, before his career petered out.

But Elephant Man is one of the greatest films of all time, and despite being a conventional narrative, lots of the strange techniques in it are already visible in Eraserhead.

Interesting thread....

"Kissed" with Molly Parker (1996)

If you read the premise, i.e. girl who goes to work in a funeral parlor and starts having sex with the dead corpses, you'll probably run away, but you'll miss a good movie. As bizarre as it is, the filmmaker makes a really fascinating movie. The necro-sexual element is more or less a vehicle in which to explore people's wide view of sexuality. Parker is fantastic.

Anatomy of Hell, it was weird and some parts were like "What the hell?" For example, when the guy stuck a rake I think in the woman's ass while she was sleeping. I was thinking to myself, "Who does that?"

Mirrormask, Silent Hill and of course Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, are all weird in a good way.

The Doom Generation is weird in a bad way.

We had sort of a rainy day odd flick festival sometime ago, none of the movies seemed to make any sense individually but collectively, they just happened to work well

Repo-Man;

The Adventures of Buckaroo Bazai Across the 8th Dimension;

The Fifth Element; and

Brazil

Of course it helped that we were all stoned and drunk (and occasionally naked)

This is not about the most shocking movie I have seen, but this is about th best I ever have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M32xgAALhU

If you happen to watch this movie, now, it will change your perspective on life. It is so very powerful and emotional. There is just no other movie like this.

I thought Kids was pretty whacked, these crazy kids were out of control, another bizarre Gus Van Sant film. Oh yeah, Orgazmo was pretty dang weird too, dressing up in these space costume and having a big floppy dildo as a gun haha.

Yes it is. Makes you thirsty for milk after seeing it.

Takashi Miike has made lots of weird movies like Ichi the Killer, Gozu, Imprint, Sukiyaki Western Django, Full Metal Yakuza, Deadly Outlaw: Rekka, and The Great Yokai War. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0586281/

Some of the weirdest movies are the most memorable. Especially if you don't understand it fully and have to invest some grey matter to make sense of it.

Tough to choose...

Liquid Sky - a pretentiously bad, but really weird and slightly wacky movie
Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive - David Lynch's first weird movie, and maybe his best weird movie
The Adventures of Buckaroo Bazai Across the 8th Dimension - definitely one of the most hilariously wacky movies
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - great weird, wacky films from Terry Gilliam
Plan 9 from Outer Space - so seriously bad, wacky and weird that it's good... as a comedy
Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy - the Coen brother's forays into the weird and wacky

A great little Monty Python-esque movie. The giant with a ship for a hat.

And Labyrinth. With a very young (only 16) but cute Jennifer Connelly. The bog of eternal stench. Brilliant.
