Have to disagree chef , the muslim extremists had a hard on about the US and to a certain extent the UK long before 9/11,.Our support for Israel and because we have a society that isn't based on medieval values such Homos being hung, women hung or heads chopped off for being raped, women being stoned to death for allegedly having affairs. Disarming citizens is no solution because there are already more serious laws on the books that people are willing to break and an extra gun charge doesn't matter. I was actually in a gun store yesterday trying to buy some mags for my Sig P220 .45 Cal. They were out of them and couldn't even order me some because the manufacturer didn't have any either. They were also limiting their .45 Cal ammo to 2 boxes of 20 and only when you're picking up a gun which meant I couldn't buy any if I needed some. Was this some new law? No. Simple supply and demand. The store had a very limited supply because they were selling like hotcakes to a bunch of crazy white guys like me. The new gov't did have an effect of possible new gun laws and taxes. Don't know if this is true but perception is reality and the store was full. I joked with the guy behind the counter asking him if Obama should be the poster boy for the NRA. He laughed saying the boy sells us a lot of guns.

Obama seems a pretty decent bloke and is a great speaker but I dislike his politics and I also think his wife looks like a bit of a cunty hoodrat but thats just me. I think it's great America has a Black president but I wish it wasn't him .

Who knows what party this particular nut voted for, he may well of not voted because these types probably thought Mcain was far too moderate for them on things like Immigration. Even many republican were lackulstre about Mcain till Palin came on the scene.

As a person who strongly believes in the right to keep and bear arms, I don't want convicted felons or the insane to possess firearms. Every gun I've ever bought I have been willing to comply with the law whatever it was on that day of the week. I know Brunn had a rifle but not sure what kind. I think this is illegal now but I'm not sure but you used to be able to go to a gun show and buy an SKS rifle, which takes the same 7.62 x 39mm ammo as an AK-47, and walk it right out to your car. Long arms are among the last to see regulation in many cases, there are still states where you can buy a long arm from a private party and not have to deal with background checks, waiting periods or registrations... and this was only more true/often the further back you go.

During WW2 many GIs would come across firearms overseas and simply shipped them home through the mail, no paper trail whatsoever- and kept them as war trophies in their homes. Now that the WW2 generation is dying off, it really isn't hard to find long arms or even ww2 era side arms that have never seen regulation, and have no paper trail to speak of. Despite this, it seems a good portion of the gun-related crimes are committed with newer firearms so its not like criminals are just going to estate sales & garage sales to find 60+ year old pieces to use.

If he were "smart," he would have stashed away some firearms back when they weren't truly regulated, and simply kept some of them hidden away when he was imprisoned. Would not have been hard to do, and I wouldn't exactly put a lot of stock (pun not intended) in law enforcement being able to track down pre-regulation firearms, especially if this guy had any intelligence in how to hide them for a rainy day.

True. I wasn't thinking of that. M1 Carbines were easy to purchase too like the SKS. My uncle who's in his 80s has a lot of off the book guns too. He's a nice old guy from Texas and just likes to collect them and do some target shooting.
