Psychoanalyze Yourself

NO CHEATING! That will take all the fun out of it.
This is a very interesting test. Try it.

Have a pen and paper handy before you read any further. As soon as you read a question, write the answer right away.

Make sure to answer questions 1-10 before moving on...NO CHEATING!!

Read the following questions, imagining the scenes in your mind, and write down the FIRST thing that you visualize. Do not think about the questions excessively.

1. You are not alone. You are walking in the woods. Who are you walking with?

2. You are walking in the woods. You see an animal. What kind of animal is it?

3. What interaction takes place between you and the animal?

4. You walk deeper in the woods. You enter a clearing and before you is your dream house. Describe its size?

5. Is your dream house surrounded by a fence?

6. You enter the house. You walk to the dining area and see the dining room table. Describe what you see on AND around the table.

7. You exit the house through the back door. Lying in the grass is a cup. What material is the cup made of?

8. What do you do with the cup?

9. You walk to the edge of the property, where you find yourself standing at the edge of a body of water. What type of body of water is it?

10. How will you cross the water?

__________________________________________________ ___________

I'll post the other half (to get your answer/analysis) once people post and give their answers. So be patient! It's really a fun test!

In my defence I will say I was trying very hard, it was just when the bit about the dream house came up that it kinda went "ping" and there it was. Sorry.

However, the test itself was pretty interesting, other than that.

Foxes are pretty small, and yup, I tend to not let problems get out of hand; that house is not petite, so whatever that means; I did include food on the table so I am not unhappy (true) disposition of the cup--I picked it up and put it on a ledge, which is interesting...That is one big pond...But of course I stayed dry....

I have done a lot of these tests, which are fun parlour games, and that was one of the most entertaining; thank you Hara.

PM'd you with something.

1. You are not alone. You are walking in the woods. Who are you walking with?

I'm walking with a friend [I'll leave the name out]

2. You are walking in the woods. You see an animal. What kind of animal is it?

It's a crow.

3. What interaction takes place between you and the animal?

Nothing.

4. You walk deeper in the woods. You enter a clearing and before you is your dream house. Describe its size?

Two story, if I had to guestimate ~3.5k sq-ft.

5. Is your dream house surrounded by a fence?

Yes, a really big black wrought iron fence.

6. You enter the house. You walk to the dining area and see the dining room table. Describe what you see on AND around the table.

Its a long rectangular mahogeny table, two matching chairs (one at each end), a brass light fixture hanging above the table, walls are dark burgundy, the room is otherwise undecorated and windowless, the table is set but otherwise empty. The floor is carpeted with a dark colored carpet, of a tight weave (not shag).

7. You exit the house through the back door. Lying in the grass is a cup. What material is the cup made of?

Strofoam.

8. What do you do with the cup?

Stump on it, crushing it.

9. You walk to the edge of the property, where you find yourself standing at the edge of a body of water. What type of body of water is it?

It's a huge, dark swamp/wetland I can't see across

10. How will you cross the water?

Why do I have to cross the water? I have no reason to cross the water, nothing tells me I have anything to use the cross the water- so I'd have to walk through it. But I'm not about to walk into a void I can't see across. I take the table out of the dining room, break off its legs and see if it floats. If it floats I then use the legs of the table as paddles and cross the water on the table I had to describe earlier. Actually scratch that, I still have no reason to cross the water- I don't know how to swim, I'm staying out of the fucking water.

I just checked it, I am not sure I'd trust their rational, but I get the jest of what they're saying.

I used to drive my therapists crazy with these things when I was little.

My favorite tests to mess with therapists were word association and the ink blots.

Ink blots were awesome: "Cool, you know what this looks like? I see another ink blot!"

I had to rehearse myself for word association tho, i.e.
Their word
Me: I
Their word
Me: Hate
Their word
Me: Waste/waisting
Their word:
Me: Time
Their word
Me: In therapy

That would usually be when they'd catch on, since I said two words.

I would also get enjoyment out of seeing how crazy I could make them think I really was. Ink blots were great about pretending to see mutilated bodies, explosions, and so on. I was rarely successful because I could only keep a straight face for so long.

I went to a few schools in k-12 and they all put me in therapy at one point or another because my teachers didn't know what to make of me.

I can't really blame them for it, when it comes to stuff like that I can see siding on the side of caution.

Luckily the shrinks all had a sense of humor that didn't get me in trouble for my antics. I totally took advantage of it though, whenever I did anything bad and knew I was going to be caught, I would just turn myself in to the shrinks knowing they liked me and would make sure i wouldn't get in trouble (yea, I really was that calculating even in elementary school LOL ).

LOL Hara you should do a thread just on how people see their dream house. I think it would be very interesting.

As for this one--methinks you have not factored in the upkeep, my friend.

A few years ago I interviewed a lady, very elderly, and one of what you might call the seriously landed gentry...Trust me, her house made that thing look suburban. Anyway, I arrive, ring the bell, and am taken, by a young woman in ordinary clothes, all the way through this magnificent pile, where everything--I kid you not--is covered in dust sheets, through corridor after corridor, to a little apartment where the lady herself was tucked up on a comfy sofa in front of a fire. Her room was about 16x24 feet, not more. We did the interview and I photographed her, then we got to talking about the house, so she showed me round--she was very fit and spry though she was over eighty. Eventually I asked her why she lived in the little apartment, which turned out to have once been the butler's quarters, when she had the whole of this truly magnificent home, and she just shook her head and said, "My boy, it's no life; you need a staff of twenty just to keep a place like this. It's part of a bygone age. I'm quite happy in my little apartment and to be honest I never even walk around the house any more, except when someone like you comes to visit."

I thought it was interesting. I did like her, too, a lot. She had literally had it all--the fortune, the society life--but she knew the measure of her contentment. It struck me that that was a good understanding to have.
