I've been to my share of NYC parties. I've been to Edelweiss, Sally's II, Now Bar and all the peep shows when 42nd street was the forty deuce. I've been to the meat packing district. During all this I never took a poll of what races were there. If you're hot you're hot! I don't discriminate.
I've had great times with black girls, white girls, latinas, latinas that look black, latinas that look white.
Sometimes it's not about race. I got called out at a party by 2 fairly popular girls who basically said "see this is why we don't like black guys. As for persons who get upset or wonder why race matters in the LBGT community, well HELLO, this is the United States. Race sadly still matters in almost everything, regardless if one wishes to fact that fact or not.

One could go to a club like the Roxy, or the "Black" or "White" circuit parties and gaze upon a sea of mainly white, muscular men. Have known and still know some white gay males that are every bit as racist and bigoted as anything you'd find in the ST8 world. But this also works both ways. As a holdover from colonial rule, in many if not most Hispanic (and some Asian) communities, those with a more European (read white), ancestry and or look, are very racist towards darker persons. Watch any telenovella and you will see mainly light skinned persons, especially Latinas, often with blue eyes, blonde hair and the lot as the "beautiful" and wealthy persons. The darker persons are often maids and or somewhat lower down on the social scale.
