For the same reasons that you pay $300 for a hotel room booked directly with the house and $80 for a room booked via Hotwire.com.

With the one you know what you're getting, where you will be, etc. With Hotwire (And Craigslist) it's a crapshoot with about a 50% chance of snake eyes.

Local papers tend to be the lower end of the market, so the prices have to be lower. It's just different prices for different markets.

I can asnwer that one. As a male escort I do the same thing. Your eros price is one thing and CL is another. You do it by using different names. When a client calls using one name you know it's eros, another and you know it's criags, another and it's print.
It's not like you are trying to jack up the price on ther eros guy, but as Vanessa said, you are trying to make money. Travel and hotel rooms are expensive, so it's better to stay busy.
Also, you can offer quickies, etc with print ads if you want to do volume

I hate to break it to ya but if someone has access to a computer, they have access to both eros and cl. Maybe, just maybe, they use both so they can weed out the "cop" adds and make sure that the provider is the same and the information is basically the same. True, but if I see the same pic on both ads with the same description both in town for the same amount of time I think I will still call the # for cl or the paper.
