I am currently watching TruTv coverage of the Angie Zapata murder trial and it's pretty depressing to say the least. The defense, in my opinion, were showing disrespect by repeatedly referring to her as Justin Zapata. The defense claims that it was a crime of passion, but the prosecution is saying it isn't. It's truly sad.

Killer of Angie Zapata Gets Life in Prison

Allen Andrade, 32, was found guilty on all counts in the July 16 murder of Angie Zapata, 18, a transgendered woman he met on a networking site and brutally killed after staying with her for two days in Greeley, Colorado. He was sentenced to life in prison. He could get an extra 60 years as a habitual offender when he returns to court on May 8 to face charges of felony rioting in a detention facility.

Evidence at trial showed that Andrade probably killed Zapata by bashing her with a fire extinguisher while she was sleeping - as there were no signs of "defensive wounds" - and then bashing her again when she awoke. While awaiting trial, Andrade told fellow inmates that it wasn't as if he "killed a straight, law-abiding citizen" and referred to Angie as "it." His attorney referred to these as "jokes made by a man who knew he was innocent," the Associated Press reported.

Angie's mother, Maria Zapata, said at sentencing that "something that he can never take away is the love and the memories my family and I have of my baby, my beautiful baby."

Michael Silverman of the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund said in a statement, "The hate crime conviction for Angie's murder sends a clear message that targeting transgender people will not be tolerated."

Any guy that has that kind of defense is just a coward and a liar. Every guy that dates a TG knows exactly what he is getting into.

His problem is that his mind is so twisted, he could not deal with the fact that he had sex with a TG woman. His cock did the thinking for him while he was having sex and his guilt of being outed and having sex with her drove him over the edge and made him kill her.

His only defense is that his upbringing and societal pressures made him this way. Unfortunately, that is no defense for murder.

As far as I am concerned, anyone that commits first degree murder like that should get the death penalty. Angie's murder was tragic, horrible, and utterly unneccessary.

I wish there were more mainstream examples of trans-women in the media so that the general public would divest themselves of the notion TG females are simply men in drag, or that a "heterosexual" man's attraction to transgendered women isn't really homosexual and not exactly bi either.

I have recently come to terms with my intense attraction to TG women, and although I have never had sexual thoughts whatsoever towards another man, my lust for TG women can frequently be overwhelming. The appeal of tgirls to me personally is their passion, sensuality, overt femininity, and at the same time, their androgyny.

There is something irresistible to me about the idea of a woman with a penis, but not so for another man.

Hopefully one day, we will all live in a society where rigid norms for what is considered acceptable expressions of one's gender and sexuality will no longer apply, and all people will feel free to live as total people and follow whatever path, as consenting adults, our personal attractions to others of like mind leads us.

There's been a couple of threads on it....I think the result was as good as it was going to get, hopefully it won't get changed on appeal.I feel for the family having to sit through that; I know the defence were only doing their job but to hear a loved one talked about in that way....as if losing them were not bad enough.

It is a truly terrible thing that happened to Angie Zapata, but at least justice has been served; there are an awful lot of women who die for the same reasons whose killers are never caught and go unpunished, sadly.

The horrible truth is, we'll be here again.
