Probably a lot cheaper just to get somebody to kick you in the balls.

You're in good form tonight, hippiefried. I'm hiccuping with laughter: alternating between oafish snorts, squeaky chipmunk noises and bellowing baritones.

Yes girl! I learned it from her! She is fun! Anyway, yeah i think she sounds good now after the surgery. But the surgery is really dangerous and lots of risks if you feel like its worth it then go for it. Otherwise just do it like me (eat black ants every morning and you'll somewhat sound like a girl; coz the ants will pinch your tonsils hence the female voice) :D  :D  :D IM KIDDING! THIS IS A JOKE! DONT TRY IT AT HOME!

Throat surgery is very risky and not guranteed...comes with many complications and most of the time will make you sound fake and if you ve had more than one nose surgery you will really sound nasal and ugghhh......best bet is to practicing softening your tone of voice...24-7 until it becomes naturally softer and of a higher pitch....voice lessons help

When a surgeon takes a trach shave down too far, he'll split the vocal cords and cause a girl to lose all BUT her lowest pitches.... but people still get trach shaves all the time.

I think the bigger thing about the voice surgeries are that they're so uncommon, and so few doctors do it- so it's harder for the surgeons to improve their techniques. I've heard one person who had it done, and had complications... they sounded like they spent the last 80 years smoking a dozen packs a day. But, they didn't sound "like a guy." They probably wouldn't have a future as a vocalist, but even with the complications they didn't sound like a guy (so I guess the question is "what's your standards, would having a bad sounding but perfectly passable voice be ok?").

Hi

I was interested if anyone had done this surgery which is new and is being performed by James Thomas in Portland?

Is it any better than the Chrycothyroid Approximation?

http://www.voicedoctor.net/surgery/fem_lar.html

My voice sounds pretty good but being able to eliminate certain tonals would be great. Course maybe I should worry about my chin and eyes first! lol!

cheers gurls,

Astrid Shay

Voice surgery is a really horrible surgery to have risk-wise, but I have not heard of one person who went to dr brassard in montreal that had a problem. There are few people who do it, but if I was going to he'd be the only one i'd trust.

Thanks for the information Gia and the confirmation. He seems really good but really i think I will be using the cash at some point to making my facial features look better. Need to have my chin rounded off and some other things. Now just to find the right cosmetic surgeon to do it.

Has anyone had experience with Dr. Lee? he is in Beverly Hills and works with Gary Alter.

cheers

Supposedly the yanhee practice in thailand (http://www.yanhee.co.th/yhh/th/gnr/ent_yanhee/en/voice_change.html)also does this surgery, but I don't know anyone who has had it done there.

It would be worth pointing out that the surgery only aims to address voice box pitch ranges. Pitch is only one of the characteristics to think about when talking (lol get it? taking...) about voices.

The next time you're in a crowd listen to how the guys versus the girls talk. Guys typically talk in a very consistent monotone voice pitch-wise. Girls are far less likely to talk like that, which is why GG's with really deep voices aren't assumed on the phone to be trans- the pitches are low, but their pitch use is more of a variable than what a constant monotone male-voice would be.

However, a pitch-range change from a surgery like this, if successful, would have obvious advantages- like when sneezing, laughing, yelling, etc. which may not be possible for some without surgery.

See Sarah that is what I really want is to take away the bass volumes when coughing and such like that actually. But from what i have been reading its not worth it sounds like.

Guess i will just smoke two packs a day and really go for a low voice.

Cheers

Back in the day, when I was first transitioning I was insecure about many
things like we girls can be.

I asked my endocronologist at the time if he could hook me up with a
speech pathologist.

I met with her once, she told me I was fine, and wouldn't need her
services.

I've since done tons of radio and tv work, do a great deal of public
speaking, and the true litmus test is the "mamn on the phone" I get. 8)

I've had lots of other surgeries, but I will leave the voice alone.

You aren't serious right? You are extremely female sounding, girl...when we went to coffee bean you were not anything but a lady.

Base in the voice is good, you don't have too much of it, you sound like Demi Moore. SOoooooooooooo sexy!
