Has anyone seen this show on HBO? It's really good and stars Jill Scott. She opens a detective agency in Africa and solves cases. Pretty good, I recommend it to everyone.

Yeah, I was very impressed by it. When I saw the previews, I did not know that it was Jill Scott (because I am not familiar with her work). I thought it was cool though. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Well my mom pointed out that the acting was less than superb. she didnt like it. and we both like Jill Scott A LOT. We've seen her live in Philly like three times.

so maybe not for EVERYONE.

PS- how much did you love her hairdresser friend?
her secretary:"that hairdresser is very much like a woman"

LOVE IT

I like the hairdresser friend. Reminds me of a friend that I had awhile ago. I like the secretary. You could tell that she thought she was better than the main character, but as the show progressed then you could see her warming up to the main character. I think that the car mechanic and Jill Scott's character is going to have a relationship in future episodes. At least I hope.

D'you folks realise it might be aimed at a different target?

It airs prime time as a UK show and I'm fairly sure it is meant to take the piss out (make fun of) how Brits see Africans.

I think it's meant to lampoon (gently mock) us folks here in Britain.

Nothing wrong with the acting. Those are all seasoned actors. Don't assume them to be amateurs because we don't know them. I was impressed by how convinvingly Jill Scott was able to maintain her accent. Very good show and original concept.

Did not know that it aired prime time in the UK. Good to know. Therefor its success or failure does not depend on HBO's ratings because as we know from "The Wire," programs with large black casts do not get supported by HBO decision makers. So if it gets canned on HBO I'm sure I could find it on BBC America.

Thanks for the honesty T Oracle.

Yeah, I noticed that it had the BBC logo on the ending credits. How do Brits see Afrikkans?

I had intended to burn it.

I'm going to catch it on On-demand.

I've eagerly been awaiting it, and I know that
it will do quite well.
