Marvin Gaye's bday

Listen to "Make me wanna holla" if you're into classics and tell me if some of those lyrics don't ring true to what's going on today in the world........

Marvin Gaye had the best version of "The National Anthem" sadly I wasn't old enough to watch it or listen to it live.

You have to listen to What's Going On without skipping any of the songs. I have the Deluxe Edition; I prefer the Detroit Mix to the one that was actually released. One of the best albums ever recorded...his magnum opus.

The clip below warms me every time I see it.

I was in Barnes and Nobles today and they had a book with that album cover. Good book, artist musicians, and athletes all commenting about their peers. I agree Willie, def his magnum opus

His album "Hear, My Dear" is also a good listen. Pretty much, all of them are, but the ones from the 70s are the best.

Thanks for calling attention to Marvin Gaye's birthday. A very troubled soul, but one of the greatest singers ever. What's Going On is probably one of the 10 best albums ever, any category of music. And as has been said, much of what he wrote almost 40 years ago, is very relevant today. Inner City Blues still gives me chills, and I've listened to it hundreds of times over the years. He left us too soon, but left a lot of great music.

Marvin's preacher father was a crossdresser, and Marvin hated him for it.

His dad hated Marvin because of the cocaine, and shot Marvin to death.

Terrible tragedy.
