If you are tired of all the pop-ups try firefox or opera. But you have to know no software is going to block 100% of them.Anti virus software wonīt help you again pop-ups.
Best anti virus software are Kaspersky Anti Virus 7.0 and Gdata AntiVirus2008 and they arenīt expensive.Should it be a free software Avira AntiVir Personal Classic.

Hope that helped.

I can't say that I'm a fan of 'A O HELL', but they do have a number of
security safeguards built in http://daol.aol.com/security/?

However if you would like, AVG is pretty good for free AV software, you
can grab it here http://free.avg.com/

Avast is also good http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

For your spyware issues Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.2
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

Here's a free firewall http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm

If you're gonna stick your browser in unsafe portals, make sure you use
protection, boo.

Get Nod 32, it will end your virus problems.

I'm not sure Zonealarm is that compatible with AOHell, it kept knocking mine offline when I was still in aol rubbish.

Would definitely recommend avast (although have previously used AVG with no probs). Avast seems qiute light on the system and updates very regularly.

Agree on Spybot plus might ad ad-aware too- they seem to pick up slightly different things.

Finally, if you do get a virus, try trend housecall (free online virus checker) and / or stinger free virus removal tool from Mcafee which is really effective.

Def. go to either firefox or opera.

For Antivirus.
Avira Antivir,

Used to like AVG. but current version has gone the
way of bloat ware. Shame.

AVG is pretty cool and itīs free. Antivir is another option but doesnīt work that great. Kaspersky is also great.

P.S.: always use Firefox.

Flabbybody, go to download.com and get Malware Bytes Malware remover. It is a very small program but it will remove those programs which look like real software.

I know it costs money, but I'd recommend Norton Internet Security 2007 - not newer versions since they have a lot more overhead and tend to slow things down - the 2007 version has a lot of useful protection features, can be configured for advanced or novice users, and just tends to work pretty well and protect pretty well - and there are ways to extend the updates for about 11 years (vs. the 1 year you get when you install it) ;)

I'd recommend against Zonealarm. It's a resource hog.

As far as what I would recommend, I have yet to find one that's perfect.

What she said. Also be updated..

limit your computer use to USER never and Administrator.

Better than any virus protection, IMO. Especially on a slow computer where you don't want it to be any slower.

There are some websites (forums) linked with P2p wher you can find any antivirus you wish and crack that.
But it's not legal. I've never done and I'll never do.
Ahahahahahahah!

Are Macs still more or less impervious to viruses? I recently had my internet computer fail, and rather than buy a new one, I've got an older iMac that I was thinking of using for internet access.

Also does anybody know about an anti-virus program called "Casper Key?" My partner is using that on one of her systems and it seems pretty good. But I guess they are all pretty good - until something gets through...

Thanks,
TS Jamie :-)

Believe it or not... Microsoft finally came out with a decent and free program that handles malware....

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ad724ae0-e72d-4f54-9ab3-75b8eb148356&displaylang=en

It's an executeable... no installation necessary, which means no overhead, you can toss the exe file away as soon as you do a scan. You only need the link to get the latest version if you need a scan again, at some future date.

BTW, this is in lieu of spybot and adware, both programs of which I dislike due to the overhead, installation, and their inability to zap the worst malware.

Actually imo hand down, spyhunter version 3 is the best. I had a virus problem few months ago, tired avg, avira, and various others, they found some viruses, but still my computer was just so slow. Finally download spyhunter and the effect was immediate, computer run so much faster. Than installed it on my wifes computer, labtop, my computer at work, all of them running signifcantly faster. Here is a website:

http://www.enigmasoftware.com/support/downloading-spyhunter3/

If you want a cracked version, try
