Nice. Who did the vocals? What does Dubai got to do with it?

Thanks for listening.

The vocals are a keyboard sample, in other words played throught the keyboads. Dubai does not have anything directly to do with the music, but the music invokes the mood of picture a little becuase of the Arabic type of notes played by the oboe-synth and the speed and color of the music invoke dark ambience and urban life.

Yoda, you betrayed Jazz.

Nah! Its all good. You can work a mainstream form or just bring together whatever you love. My greatest hero Miles Davis, sometimes objected to his music being called jazz. He felt that people wanted to limit him.

I take it that Eric Dolphy was your hero. He was one of a kind.

Yeah he´s my biggest hero from the Free Jazz era along with Ornette Coleman. Free Jazz is about busting the limits. Miles was a genius and I love his 80ies funky stuff, too. I guess this has to be traced back to my passion for Fusion. However, do what you feel it´s good, man. I was only kidding as usual on this forum, bro.

I thought I would throw another song into the fire. This one has lyrics and other people helping. There's an implied philosophy about God in the song, but I'll let the song speak for itself for now. The words in parenthesis are spoken, and the others are sung. I write lyircs, but I am not crazy about my singing voice, so it was a great gift to have this sung by Devon.

Here is the people on the recording:
. I wrote the lyrics and the music. I had help with the musical arrangement from a friend named Larry Gaines. The vocalist who sing the lyrics and harmony has his own MySpace page; http://www.myspace.com/melodicdevonjames I do the chant at the end of the song. The melodic line in the sample is from the deceased Israeli vocalist Ofra Haza. The other chants were from some of the youth from our Jr church, and the lead vocalist, Devon.

Here are the full lyrics :

The Peace Song – part two

(We want no more of religions at war, Peace is what religion is for.)

A bomb can’t change a word of the Koran
The real question is, how to live
The real question is, what really is
How can man understand what is the real word of God

(“for man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word which comes from the mouth of God”)

Rifles cannot change words of the Bible
And do you think that we’re liable, to understand the Bible
With the barrel in our eyeball (No, it just makes us blind)
The real question is, how to live what is the real word of God

(“for man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word which comes from the mouth of God”)

No war can change the teachings of the Torah
And if you should insist, that people can’t exist
Then basic Truth you’ve missed, (Please read the instructions you need)
The real question is how to live what is the real word of God

(“He prepares a table in the presence of my enemies.” The 23rd Psalm mercy, mercy!”)

Warfare can’t do half as much as more prayer
If you seek to increase, democracy and peace,
Not just more of those deceased. (Please note dead people can’t vote)
The real question is, how to live what is the real word of God

(this is for some of my Muslim brothers)

Side bomb can’t increase empathy with Islam
The space in the world is ample, to set a living example
So tell me is it true, (When you say ‘peace be with you’)
The real question is, how to live what is the real word of God

(“In the beginning, the word was with God, and the Word was God”.
Now God has given us the chance to create our with words! So all we need to do is say this.)

My soul will be at peace
When hostilities cease

My soul will be at peace
When hostilities cease [Repeat till end, while new group adds]

My soul will be at peace when hostilities cease
In the Middle East , Afghanistan , Iraq and Iran (the Holy Land ) at peace …
