What is your "REAL" name?

I had some free time tonight and was browsing the boards and this question came to mind. I thought it might make for some provocative conversation... LOL

Who, besides me, actually goes by their "real" name here on HA or in public?

I realize many girls use stage names, but I'm curious as to why?

Is it a way to separate your business and private life? Is it fear of stalkers, of LE, of friends or family finding out about one's private business? Or have you just not done the legal stuff or otherwise don't like your real name?

As for the guys, if you use a stage name, why?

I think most people separate online and real life as two separate worlds, so it's easy to be a faceless individual and/or recreate yourself. I'm the same online as I am in person though.

My screen name here is truncated from what I usually go by and have been for the last 10 years.

my first name is legal my last name is no longer legal

it was at one point when i was basically married

i started doing film and tv work w/ the JJ name so when we split i kept the name as a professional one and changed my name back to my maiden name

i like having the 2 names bc i can throw on a blonde wig and get recognized as JJ or i can walk down the street w/ my natural hair and not get recognized even by ppl that know me

plus jj flows much better ... the key to any stage name working is how well it flows and sticks in your head
