THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Poor management/organization for the Katrina disaster. If this had been a war we would be in a lot of trouble.
Those dc-10/helicopters est. can drop water/mre's on the roofs of the homes of people who are stranded poor logistics. THIS IS OR COMMANDER IN CHEAF.

IF SOME ONE USE A SCHOOL BUS THAT NOT HIS TO TRANSPORT PEOPLE TO SAFETY , why? call them a thief or a looter and say there in big trouble why not say they are doing there best to get there necessities.
The priority should be not to stop looting but to get organization and priorities things such as water and medicine drops.

NO! Don’t call off search and rescue
To stop looting. People are mostly taking what’s needed

Our gentle readers might take you a tad more seriously if you would refer to President Bush correctly as our commander-in-chief, and not incorrectly as "commander & cheaf."

Additionally, a better command of the English language and basic grasp of grammitical precepts (i.e. punctuation, for one) would go a long way in getting your point across, and would make for a much more compelling, cogent, convincing argument.

I disagree. This is the wrong sort topic to pick on someone's grammar, spelling or command of the English language. Brenda's point is clear enough even if her English is not. Perhaps she is Latina speaking English as a second language (though that's only a guess), but that doesn't mean she shouldn't speak her mind.

Sheesh, talk about "killing two birds with one stone," so to speak.

This honey is American AND can't formulate a sentence in proper English.

In other words, you -- sir -- stand corrected.

Yet I digress...

Be that as it may, a natural disaster of this kind is unprecedented and will take weeks, if not months, to fully resolve.

Is President Bush to blame? Partly.

The Army Corps of Engineers did a study years ago indicating that New Orleans' levees needed to be reinforced against the possibility of a natural disaster.

Subsequently, President Clinton provided funding for the reparation of the levee system, but then President Bush turned around years later and diverted those monies toward the war in Iraq.

Now think about how much sense that makes: we now now have funds available to install our brand of democracy in Iraq, but we don't have money available to take care of our own at home.

You do the math.

EXACTLY! Hey, the next time you're driving over an interstate bridge you can think to yourself...

Well I may not make it, the bridge may collapse, but at least that iraqi kid has a new school that he can't get to because the "most powerful" army in the world can't handle a fe w pissant insurgents.

Look, I fully support our troops, let them do what they're supposed to do! It's our policies I question. I mean we seem to be making enemies faster than we can kill them.

Hey, FREEDOM FRIES???? You want our French Fry OIL???? I wouldn't blame them if they gave us the french f'ck off. Well, at least let the neo cons suffer!

MY OPINION IS that you need more military in iraq TO COVER THE WHOLE AREA

GUESS WHAT THE NEWS JUST SAID ? THE POLICE OR FORCED TO LOOT THE STORES THEMSELVES TO GET NECCESSITIES SUCH AS WATER ECT AND the police or turning in there badges and quitting in new orleans

TgirlloverinPA
09-03-2005, 03:33 AM
Yeah we need more troops in Iraq. But we shouldn't be there in the first place.

Just remember, no matter how pissed we are about 9/11 (which I lived through), Iraq had nothing to do with it. And if the neo cons that are currently running this country had their way we'd all be in jail.

water is expensive in iraq but oil is cheap and gas is below $0.30/gallon

new orleans needs all our help

TgirlloverinPA
09-03-2005, 03:45 AM
Sorry Brenda. But if it were for the OIL we wouldn't be paying 3.20+ for gas. That's a fallacy.

If it were about oil we could have taken Venezuala and the world wouldn't have been quite so pissed off. Not to mention the access to the TV/TS in south america!

Bush and his Administration can not plan anything. They said that he did not have enough troops for the war. Not to fight the war, but to keep law and order and to keep insurgents to cross the borders. Not only did he did not have enough Hum-Vees in the beginning of the war, but the armor on the Humvees were inadequate. This is more of the same from Bush and his Administration. They do a good job as far as politicals and controlling their political critics and media, but the images of suffering Americans and all the many critics saying that the federal response was inadequate it is harder to control the message coming out since it is coming from all different angles. I am surprised that 48% of Americans still think he is doing a good job. Just look at the federal debt continue to grow to record levels, even though he came into office with the highest budget surplus on record.

We also get roughly 25% of our oil through the New Orleans port from refineries in the Gulf of Mexico. That's why prices have gone up.

you have a small amount that are takin non essential such as
tv that can not be used, RADIO AND BATTERIES OR IMPORTANT TO GET THE NEWS. PORTABLE TV OR IMPORTANT TO GET THE NEWS AND THE EMERGENGY ANNOUCMENTS.

WATER IS IMPORTANT TO TAKE.

1)WATER
2)FOOD
3)PORTABLE TV AND RADIOS

Ssome or taking beds from furniture places damaged in the storm so there children and pregnant wifes can lie on something besides concrete.

THE NEWS HAS BEEN TELLIN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY LATELY.
the police were takin water and food from stores.

there was a guy who seen a bus with the keys in it and he had never drove a bus b4, he drove it to evaculate the city, some news programs say that he was in trouble I SAY HE WAS A HEREO , he had got the 1st people to the astrodome out of new orleans.

oh wow, i can almost feel myself losing braincells reading your posts. the reason they don't want people out late at night is because they have finally started enforcing marshall law. something the state should have done from day one. maybe if the cops would have shot to kill on the first day, we wouldn't have had all the looting, rapes, and other assorted crimes.

i noticed that you still haven't mentioned the rape issue, but that's ok, we'll just drop it. btw- the kid who took the bus to the astrodome should be a hero, but he was far from the first one there. they actually told him they were full when he got there...

I have read this entire thread from start to finish. I must say I am amazed at the people of this country. tsbrenda is nuts....period. If you have enough time to read and post to this forum, you certainly have enough time to use proper english and to proof read and correct your mistakes. As far as everyone complaining about President Bush's dealing with all of the issues at hand, I ask you this....Do you SERIOUSLY think that his competition would have been better. Now this is a rhetorical question yet I am sure that this post will get countless replies hammering me. That's OK. I served my country so that the people of this country could have the freedom to do so. I now understand why vicki leaves this board for long periods of time. I realize that I am new to this board and I initially thought it was the greatest thing ever when I found it. Now I have a serious problem. I hope not everyone in the country has the views or our country is seriously doomed. I see lots of complaints but no serious suggestions or solutions..... :( :(

THE ANSWER IS : they are without fresh water so to conserve water travel at night so you'll sweat less and stay cooler.

also instead of the news tellin stories and selling pictures/advertising they should help coordinate the efforts since they have satelitte communication and can tell were people who or stranded are at. what happen to the EBS OR EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM?

most of the soldiers i know didn't have families before they enlisted, they went right out of high school. my brother-in-law, for instance, went into the navy after HS. he went in to get training for a welding career. he basically did it to get a little structure in his life, and learn some skills for after military life.

my friends who are in, they knew what they were signing up for. but they were also willing to take the gamble for the educational rewards. i am pleased to say that bro-in-law is now home and doing well after three stints in iraq.

So you took a job, for pay and other benefits? Well done - there are plenty of teachers, medics, fireman and other worthy jobs - are they also serving. In fact, is anyone who pays taxes contributing to your wages which kept you on your submarine, serving?
I don't feel it's disrespect I just miss the point of saying you're "serving"- it was just a job. Unless of course, you were drafted or volunteered for a war effort?

so skully basically anyone who disagrees with anyone's comments is reason to leave the boards? what a bunch of horseshit. people love to be dramatic on here and make these grand exits and end up right back here only making complete asses of themselves.

if you are gonna post an opinion then stick to it and that's that.

don't be a drama queen.

going back to the service men question - yes bush is an asshole- a complete idiot. hence why he can't manage public speaking after 5 years in office, why he looks completely uncomfortable and stiff in public and when interacting with people, and why the truth about some of his federal appointments are coming out now- like the head of fema.

i have met many soldiers on leave from iraq, who have to return. i get many emails from them as well. most of the ones who i am have spoke with tell me about the stuff u do not see in the media, what a mess it really is, and how they disagree with it. but as they are doing a JOB-it is a job that they enlisted for and have to follow orders. though i am proud of the few who have refused to return on ethical beliefs.

i have always supported the troops but not the goverments or the war in iraq. i am saddened that so many people have to lose their lives for the failure of the american goverment in intelligence, the war on terror, and for mr. bush's will.

this hurricane was not predicatable and the truth is that nothing could ever be done fast enough when it comes to a response to such a disater- but the the failings here are in the hands of both the federal, state, and local goverments-but they are majorly in the hands of the president who cut fema funding, made it part of homeland security, and appointed people with no experience on such matters.

as far the rights that we have attained through the blood of the soldiers, dear friend, those are many of the rights that the right wing agenda is trying to strip away. i find it impossible to be involved in an alternative lifestyle, enjoy adult entertainment, support free speech, and support bush and the bush administration- that is hypocritical, at best.

I am glad that Brown is no longer managing the disaster, but he still heads FEMA, who was just handled over $50+ billion dollars of funding for the disaster. If he mismanaged the disaster, can he manage a $50+ billion dollar budget?

Personally, I do not like the $2,000 debit card idea. How can you verify that person was the person the card was initially given to? Too many unwanted variables that can happen. Direct deposit is a better idea, which they are doing now.

I thought this was an interesting story that raises some questions that will have to go in planning of dealing with disasters.

But i am very weary about patriotism since its a very dangerous propaganda tool to use against people to get behind the govt when it wants to get away with something unjust. yes, Samuel Johnson may have said it best..."patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"...the scoundrels in question being prez shrub et al... ...and lest you say that I haven't served my country...this is coming from a former sailor, who put his ass on the line for four years, on the flight deck of the USS Kitty Hawk aka "the shitty kitty"

Before any of you start to complain....(I know the sight of a black person getting 2,000 dollars makes you angry) remember we are giving israelis, jews 300,000-400,000 dollars so there is a precident.

I just wish the middle class american had as much influence on the president as the neo-cons(jews) do............Why dont you help us Mr.President?
