Hi all, sorry my poor english.
I think a lot of people don't know that in Italy we have a politician, leftist, that is a trassexual: Her name (a nickname, she adopted like standard name) is Vladimir Luxuria.
She's very smart, and fight everyday for transsexual, gay and lesbian rights.
Isn't simple in a country were every silly words of the pope are so important for many people and for all the politics class.
In the past weeks, for a mediatic strike, she was involved in a famous reality show, 'The island of famous' and... SHE WIN !
We have an ultrachatolic government, maybe... There's hope in Italy !

It's great that she won it. Hopefully this will give her a greater chance to be re-elected next time around.

Ok, she's no so yong, and she don't ever use her body to publicize her, never, noither when she was young and pretty. She's a 'real' person.

Damn, there's always a catch with every politician in Italy, isn't there?

Nearly 100% of them are crap, being either insane extremists or completely corrupted. :x

Yeah, she's a member of the Communist refoundation party. My Italian flatmates say her political views are pretty nuts (and they're both leftists!!)

An Italian Communist named Vladimir Luxuria? I'd vote for her, sounds interesting.

I hope she could be helpful for the ts-community.
If not to get more rights, at least to be better accepted by people.

she was very active in proposing laws on civil rights and againts the discrimination of transgendered people.

What are her political views?

Complete state control of all utilities, renationalization of all aspects of the failing Alitalia, and removal of all American presences from Italy (America has several bases in the country).

These were a few of the pearls they told me but most of the other stuff was more general (i.e. Communist doctrine of total state control, etc.). So if you're a Communist I guess you wouldn't consider the views nutty...
