Look to Viirginia after polls close there at 7. If Obama takes VA it's a very good sign of the way things will turn out. Also keep your eyes on early results from Ohio, North Carolina and Florida. These states will tell you how long the night's gonna be. As for VA, I just talked to my sister there. A local news station filmed people there in line at 4:30 AM who were very excited about voting. These people also happened to be from the area of Roanoke, VA that registered the most new voters. They are from a low income, mostly black section of town with housing projects, etc. No apathy there. These people are fired up and ready for change!

My first time voting in a presidential election was 2004. I'll be leaving within an hour to vote.

Ah, perhaps the most interesting and exciting time to be alive in human history...

Edit: I still can't remember if I voted for Schwarzenegger in 2003. If I did, damn me.

Edit 2: Voted! Didn't bother fixing my hair much.

lighter note- Voted Obama. Ad from what some of the exit pollers told me, its not close in my district, or NY state for that matter.

Voted - Yeah Obama could have been Nader or McKinney I mean Cali is DARK BLUE, no worries here but what the hell.

NO ON 8!

Gezus its all bunch of *%&$^#* and Soccer Moms running around with Yes on 8 BS. None of these people know any of "The Gay" so what do they care, like if they teach homosexuality, yikes my child will be Gay, newsflash maybe your child was GAY and will less likely get crushed under the peer-pressure to be straight when they really aren't.

Move to the Middle of the County where "Creationism" is optional in schools...

Rant over.

Hey Braveman, I was thinking that too. Worthless2 the half-wit is trying to sneak back in already after being banned the other day. Note the date he joined. If so, he won't be the first person to be banned again after trying to slither back in.

Resident political jester.

I beg to differ.

Worthless2 was a repugnant, offensive troll whose posts consisted equally of total ignorance of all things political, juvenile insults, and threats of violence. He was banned this past sunday.

What Will We Know by 7 PM?
fivethirtyeight.com

Andrew Gelman of Columbia University has taken a recent set of our simulations to look at what may happen conditional on the outcomes of the first states to close their polls at 6 and 7 PM. The bottom line? If those states go roughly as expected (meaning, say, an Obama win in Virginia and a close race in Indiana), we can conclude with almost literal 100 percent certainty that Obama will win the election:

Now, what if the vote margin in Virginia, Indiana, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky were to equal the expected -5.7%? We pipe this assumption through our model by calculating, for each of our 10,000 simulations, the average vote margin in these five states, and then restricting our analysis to the subset of simulations for which this vote margin is within 1 percentage point of its expected value (that is, between -6.7% and -4.7%). Out of our 10,000 simulations, 2800 fall in this range; that is, we predict there is a 28% chance that McCain’s average vote margin in these five states will be between 4.7% and 6.7%. What is of more interest is what happens if this occurs. Considering this subset of simulations, Obama’s expected national popular vote margin is +4.7%, his expected electoral vote total is 343, and the conditional probability of an Obama victory is 100%: he wins the electoral college in all 2800 simulations in this condition.
