I have heard one figure which says 1 out of two thousand or twenty five hundred. PeggyGee posted some figures here before. But if we do some math using rounded figures: US = 300 million % 2,000 = 150 thousand.
Divide that by 50 states and you would get 3,000 per state. Of course they would go to areas that are more accepting like major cities. Anyway, this gives you a ballpark idea of numbers. I think that changing the ratio from 2,000 to 2,500 would make the figure 120 thousand. And that would equal 2, 400 per state, etc.
